Approximately a fifth of the amount Gerrard did

I find it hard to believe Gerrard was only 10 to be honest. Does that stat include the ones that were laid off for him to smack in? And is it all competitions?

I've just been on the website from where Gerrard's 10 free kick goals came from, and immedately I see that they've left off his free kicks against Portsmouth, Newcastle and PSV. There's probably more.

Here is the list of players with the most free-kick goals in Premier League-
  1. Sebastian Larsson -11 goals
  2. James Ward-Prowse -10 goals
  3. Cristiano Ronaldo – 9 goals
  4. Christian Eriksen – 8 goals
  5. Juan Mata – 8 goals

I did think Gerrard had more than 10 myself
The stat includes only direct free kicks, and won't include the teed up free kick hits. Gerrard scored a ton from those tee ups though - I think if you could include those, his numbers would touch 30+ easily.

I suppose then the point is that Gerrard was a better striker of the moving ball than the dead ball.

The thing is, the list includes one against Arsenal at Anfield which was teed up, wasn't it?

If it was teed up, then yeah, Gerrard

But we're talking dead ball here I thought

Nobody else comes close - this video has all 77 of his free-kick goals. I remember watching the one against Bayern live - Oliver Kahn already conceded from one Juninho free-kick and was determined to save the next one no matter what. He knew exactly where the ball was going and leapt like a lion to fingertip it onto the post, but they scored from the rebound anyway. And the famous one against Ajacco - he was shooting from almost the center circle and they still put 2 players in a wall, didn’t help them much.

These are some of the best goals I've ever seen. He shoots to make a ball bounce and swerve, which makes it impossible to save unless you get lucky.

Gary Mc scored a good few considering he was only here two seasons. I can't remember exactly who was taking them, but with Gerrard, Riise, Anelka and a few others around at that time, I imagine he didn't take that many. I'd go with him.

The Derby one is the only one I remember but that was a cracker.

Sir Gary would be my choice too. He also took the one which panicked the Alaves defence into conceding an oggie to win us the Treble.
