As far as I understand, the reason so many young kids were there was because the protests were spurred mostly by the recent crackdown on Internet and maybe because kids did not expect to be beaten up and arrested just for being on the street. Yet another, 1000's reason why World Cup is the last thing Russia needs right now. It's sad and fucked up; people can sense that Internet is the last freedom they have and if that's gone they will lose their voice and ability to self-organize – and that's exactly what's happening.
