Apparently he made a statement about playing for Man U and returning to Liverpool and said something along the lines of "having a family to feed". Like the little dick is on the breadline or something. Truthfully though, do we feel anything for Owen anymore - other than dissappointment ? He never really showed any real passion for Liverpool anyway only England. Torres has shown more passion for the club in two years than Owen ever did.

Wouldn't altogether disagree about Owen the person, but I read Owen the footballer's recent behaviour rather differently. To me the extraordinary statements he's been making look very much like calculated snubs to LFC and suggest a disappointed lover lashing out after being rejected. I have a hunch (and I accept that's all it is) that the guy actually DID really want to come back and that his nose was put mightily out of joint when we failed to jump at the chance.

To continue with the lover analogy JJ - if you spurn your lover and run away with someone you think is more attractive at the time then it's unlikely they'll take you back when it all goes sour. If Owen wanted to come back to Liverpool then he should have come out and said it. "I made a mistake - going to Real Madrid was the worst move of my career. I realise now that I shouldn't had left Liverpool in the first place and it's the club I've been the happiest in". Fact of the matter is he would never come out and say such a thing as it might put his other potential suitors off. You can't have your cake and eat it Michael.
