Funnily enough, he nearly made a goal for them by holding up the ball and laying it off to Valencia.. (On another day..)

Thankfully the God's weren't shining down on him, he didn't deserve their attention anyway.

Depends what kind of attention you mean. If they'd got every seagull in the Western Hemisphere to peck his eyeballs out, I think I could live with that.

Hmmm...Galway...I think I'll go for Luska Lad in the 1.35..., maybe Oran Flyer in the 4.05. I'll definitely put something on Turkish Lokum at Kempton...Possibly Chica Whopa in the 12.55 at Leopardstown...

'I was terrific today, i hope Sven was watching, he could put a word in with Fabio for me'

I remember an interview before he came back against us for the Barcodes when he used these exact words 'Its always nice to score against your old club' and i say now what i said then. How the fuck would you know Michael.
Madrid v Liverpool? Nope. Newcastle v Liverpool? Nope. Newcastle v Madrid? Nope. Manchester v Anyone? Nope.
*puts L on forehead*

I wonder what he really thinks. Doesn´t he feel anything for Liverpool?
Makes me a bit sad actually.

No, he doesn't. He's a complete mercenary like Lineker was. It's all about the money for this little prick. Apparently he made a statement about playing for Man U and returning to Liverpool and said something along the lines of "having a family to feed". Like the little dick is on the breadline or something. Truthfully though, do we feel anything for Owen anymore - other than dissappointment ? He never really showed any real passion for Liverpool anyway only England. Torres has shown more passion for the club in two years than Owen ever did.

The soulless little creep also once spoke of his feelings for Chester City, as his Dad played for them and he'd like to have some involvement with them after he retires. Well, Mike, why don't you get your wallet out now and pay off their debt?

I can't recall a match with so many awesome photos as this match.

Well, Istanbul aside.

Contrast that with Riquelme who will play the final year of his contract at Boca without receiving a wage, as a gesture to his boyhood club.

He would, but he's got a bet on them going into administration.

When Owen came on I just stayed in my seat in silence. I thought that was the appropriate reaction.

He did great things for us as a player, but I can't forgive him for lying to the fans about his future plans during his last season at Anfield.

Wouldn't altogether disagree about Owen the person, but I read Owen the footballer's recent behaviour rather differently. To me the extraordinary statements he's been making look very much like calculated snubs to LFC and suggest a disappointed lover lashing out after being rejected. I have a hunch (and I accept that's all it is) that the guy actually DID really want to come back and that his nose was put mightily out of joint when we failed to jump at the chance.

I do wonder what he will be like when he retires and ends up sitting on God awful matchday panels on Sky Sports (his place for any United-Liverpool games seems pretty much assured for a start). Will he show any more grace then or just become another bitter ex-Red?

I can certainly see him being one of those who slags us off all the time but whether he completely goes native and starts going on about the Mancs all the time I'm not sure yet.

To continue with the lover analogy JJ - if you spurn your lover and run away with someone you think is more attractive at the time then it's unlikely they'll take you back when it all goes sour. If Owen wanted to come back to Liverpool then he should have come out and said it. "I made a mistake - going to Real Madrid was the worst move of my career. I realise now that I shouldn't had left Liverpool in the first place and it's the club I've been the happiest in". Fact of the matter is he would never come out and say such a thing as it might put his other potential suitors off. You can't have your cake and eat it Michael. He fucked us off and, if the rumours are true, we fucked him off in return - and rightly so. He did a lot of great things for Liverpool but he'll never be regarded as a true LFC great now. Never.

The crowd never did take Owen to their hearts in the way they did with Fowler.

They probably sensed the evil within him

He was consumed by the dark side. He is the Darth Vader of modern football.

Well we weren't thinking that when Owen single-handedly won the FA Cup Final against Arsenal!

Keep things in proportion chaps. 🙂
