I was at the match too! If I remember rightly the kop was being rebuilt or... no roof on it ... it is vague... lost in the mist of time... and shit loads of alcohol.... If I remember rightly it was his home debut..

You're right it was his home debut.

Second leg of the "first" round of the league cup, back in the day when it had two legs as a measure to stop so many upsets too early. His actual debut was the first leg at Craven Cottage, where he scored one
