We aren't signing Jackson Martinez. Not now, not ever.
That opportunity was missed last summer.
His with in the budget for now, so why not?
Porto will likely quote us around 25-30M, and I can never see us paying that for a player we were linked to for 8M the season before.

It will be around £30m, but he did score 34 goals. Name another striker in his class available for around the £30m mark and is below 27. Robin Van Persie went for £24m at the age of 29.
Look at the fees paid for Bony and Altidore, those are the type of players we should be targeting. Surely there are other, similar players available who don't cost 30M.

I don't know who we should sign, but what is clear is that we can't compete for established superstars in the 30m bracket plus.
We need to identify players who are more than just potential, but who nevertheless can still come in and add to the first XI - players who are 20-24 and in the 15-25m bracket. Dortmund seem to have done something similar with their key signings. I don't know who fits this category. Lamela and Draxler fit the bill I think.

i'd like us to sign a player who's already established and around the 24-27 age bracket . Someone who isn't just for the future and who could go in and do a job straight away , take some leadership . Who fits that criteria i don't know .
i'd also be tempted to look at some of bayern's players , surely after signing Thiago and Goetze they'll let a midfielder go . Ok he's nearly 29 but i'd be tempted to go for schweinsteiger . yeah obviously though we'd have no chance .

We need a superstar in the making and Martinez is just that. We paid 23m for Suarez, and it's been 3 years since then. Bringing in a top striker for 30m is fine by me. That's our summer budget plus 10m from Suarez money. We'll be left with another 35-45m to spend.

There's better options out there if you want a star striker for that price. Benteke could probably be had for 25M despite his new contract, and possibly a shot at Lukaku for that price. El Sharaawy, Lamela, or Muriel are better choices as well, as attackers.
There are many better options than a 26.5 year old Jackson Martinez.
