you could definately see dvd taking off, the difference between that and SD (standard def) is stark. the difference between dvd and HD isn't so great especially with many dvd players upscaling. so people have spent money to upgrade their big hulking tv to a HD tv and upgraded their vhs to a dvd player or blu ray player and are going to upgrade all of that again so they can see sports and a few 3D movies? okay, fair enough.

everything takes time, though. it'll be like any new technology, the geeks will jump in first & get ripped off and it'll gradually feed down to everyone else as prices come down.

I KNOW there is a big difference between dvd and HD but I don't think the average guy gives a shit about that. why hasn't blu ray got a bigger audience then it has? that's the reason why star wars and the original indian jones trilogy hasn't been realeased on blu ray, because lucas is waiting for blu to be in more homes. that's HD never mind 3D. like I said if it takes off I'll be amazed, and if it happens it will happen very slowly

DVD didn't take off overnight either. I remember the days of $800 DVD players. I'm about as technologically inclined as Brendan and I have a Bluray player.

Erm, yes. Though dont get me started. I had an 'interesting' debate with the Sky tech kind enough to show me this trailer.
See it uses two HD cameras to broadcast & then sends the overlapped signal of both to your telly, so essentially there's two images, but your telly can still only display 1080 pixels, so you see half of each (I'm saying this very basically, its more compex than that), so actually, it's not really true HD, but your brain will think it is, the same as your brain will think Stevie is closer to you than the goal in the background.
