Chelsea's first bid of 2x million quid was rejected.

Roiberto Martinez is furious - he's a really gifted young CB.

The press is going on about how they'll have to beat Mangala's fee to land him - i.e. he'll be the most expensive defender in England.

Every time I've seen him, I thought he's a solid young defender.

Is he worth this kinda cash?

Positionally he's pretty darn good.

Think he's worth the cash myself!

Spare change for Chelsea so makes sense on their part considering Terry is near the end...

He could well be the successor to Terry and they might be winding him down now. He does look a good player.
They'll just keep waving more and more cash at them until they give in.
Presume he'd have to sit on the bench for the foreseeable future though.

The English premium makes the sterling fee look cheap.

At this rate, Ibe will be worth 100 million when we sell him in a few years

Everton fan in work says he's the business and he'll be starting for England come the Euro's. He said it's only a matter of time before he is sold to Chelsea but hopes to hold onto him until after the Euro's so they can jack up the price.

It would probably be the best thing for him aswell. Play the next year at Everton and then move to Chelsea after the Euros.
Seems like a great talent and its probably just a matter of when not if about a move.
Cant see him costing more than Sterling. But 30-35 mill is probably right in this horrendously inflated market.

Yeah he's gonna be a top player. Dont want him to go there. Saying that, its better than him going to the Manc twats.

About time someone take the pressure off Eliaquim Mangala as the most expensive defenderin British football at £31.9 million. 😛

Was Mangala highly rated before his move to City or was his signing a bit out of the blue?

How did he fare last season?

All my Evertonian mates are expecting minimum £40m for him, which I think is insane. I thought Chelsea's opening offer was very generous. He's clearly a good player with good potential. But that fee is an indictment of the market at the moment. Particularly for English players.

Oh, no, Mourinho has described Everton as a 'small club'! No doubt Kenwright will complain to the mayor again, like he did after Rafa said the same.

It annoyed me to see Cahill's comments yesterday about how you can't turn Chelsea down, clearly designed to get Stones agitating for a move. Everything about that club lacks class.

It's a ridiculous amount, but they hold all the cards here. I think they'll end up getting 30m minimum.

Didn't they just put up a huge poster of him on Goodison saying 'once a blue always a blue' when they rejected the first bid?

I suppose Chelsea do play in blue...

We should lob a bid in to slow it all down.

They'd never sell him to us by would likely spend days going on about it, meanwhile delaying the transfer and messing up Chelsea / Scum / Bitters preseasons!
