because

1) We lost our last two games after KD was appointed
2) We obviously do not have the squad to compete
3) Until we signed new players we will never know what are our capabilities until we sign them
4) Man U, Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all eyeing the same available players and they are richer than us and playing CL
5) What is there to attract great players (we need them) unless we have loads of money, which we don't.
6) Our owner's wealth are like pocket money for the top four club's owners.
7) We may have overpaid for Andy Carroll who has yet to show any good consistent partnership with Suarez.
8) The top 4 are obviously going to strengthen their squad & Spurs' tinkering as well, are we doomed to mid table?
9) .... add your list

My sentiments exactly Bradley! We're in a much better position than this time last year.

Let me address your points Y1

1) We lost our last two games after KD was appointed

See your next point for why. Plus injuries

2) We obviously do not have the squad to compete

We know that. I'm sure Kenny and the staff know that and they will be doing their utmost to address that.

3) Until we signed new players we will never know what are our capabilities until we sign them

That answers itself really

4) Man U, Chelsea, City, Arsenal are all eyeing the same available players and they are richer than us and playing CL

Every team has a squad limit of 24. They cannot buy everyone

5) What is there to attract great players (we need them) unless we have loads of money, which we don't.

Well, we're still a big club and an attraction to players. We've no idea how much we're willing to invest yet so I wouldn't jump to any assumptions just yet.

6) Our owner's wealth are like pocket money for the top four club's owners.

Maybe but NESV are a consortium. It's not just about money though.

7) We may have overpaid for Andy Carroll who has yet to show any good consistent partnership with Suarez.

We did overpay for Carroll as Chelsea did for Torres but he won't show any kind of partnership until he gets fully fit. Judge him them

8 - The top 4 are obviously going to strengthen their squad & Spurs' tinkering as well, are we doomed to mid table?

No. Only time will tell though
9) .... add your li

I have no fears yet. We're months off the start of the season so this feverish panic baffles me. Until our dealing is done why are people acting all hysterical you big jessies.

The fact that we lost those games is probably indicative that the squad does need improvement; but we are missing key players through injury, and we should be looking much better soon. There is always a risk buying new players, we just need to do our homework and bring in the best players whom we think will fit in well. Competition will always be keen but as Kenny said 'there are more players not playing in the CL than there are playing.'

We will always be a big draw, and whilst money is always an issue, its mor important to spend well and bring in players who fit with team. Look at Citeh; half a billion worth of players and half the time they couldnt be arsed to kick a ball. We are on the right track.I do agree with you about Andy Carroll; but he is a god player and should prove useful to us; but look at it this way, we exchanged Torrs and Babel for Carroll and Suarez. Hell,I'd make that trade if it was just Suarez.

Everybody is going to buy players and improve; but look at the Premiership as a whole.

We are owned by people who know sports and who can run a business, and we have Kenny and what seems to be a good coaching and management team working together; and I'll take that over a pile of cash anyday.

After what could have happened over the past 9 months; even if the Scum win next week, they're still not the most successful team this season. Facetious or not, it's US.

As for your insubordination :

Glory whipping scene ( tearjerker )

2nd Platoon is becoming more like Dads Army with Avvy and Y1 in it.
[/quote]Y1 is the Scottish bloke saying "We're doomed, we'r doomed I tell ye" while Avvy is Jones running round shouting Don't panic, don't panic.

My comments were not an acceptance of defeat, they were frustrated cries on failing to take Cemetery Ridge, which would have hastened victory.

NoooOoOoooo *wipe tears off tattered sleeves*

I will not peel tatters. No I will not....

When the team comes over to KL, I shall do my best to tell them how I feel!

Come on you real Reds!

The summer tends to be the one time of the year when I am optimistic. During the course of the season I descend into pessimism which ultimately turns to realism. Sadly.

However, I don't really accept the notion that because others might have more money to spend and are in the CL that means we won't be able to compete or get our transfer targets.

We don't know who our own transfer targets are, let alone those of others. Just as we don't know how any signings we make will get on, others are in that position too. And ultimately we don't know how much money our owners are making available for transfers, just as we don't know how much money other teams have for transfers.

In terms of attracting players - we have never had a problem with that before, and just because we are not in the CL, that doesn't necessary follow that we will have problems this time.
People use Spurs and City as examples, and both have been busy in the transfer market for years now, but they have not been CL regulars by any means. Okay, you can say that City have a lot of money to throw at players, but Spurs are not HUGELY wealthy, they have just used their money well on the whole.

The Owners, Comolli and Kenny haven't put a foot wrong yet and I'm trusting them to put us on the winning trail. Signing the right players will happen and we will win the Premiership!

How can it possibly be worse than this season?

I do believe that expectations are slightly too high, but this thread is crazy.

Y1, I have decided to get down on my knees in delight we lost the last two games.. why?

Because we'll not be going around Europe, wearing players down in a tournament they care little about..

And because it will have shown everyone the gaps in our squad, and how high Kenny has brought our expectations above the reality of our team. I do trust Kenny to buy well.

Our track record against the big six, is the best under KK than it's been in many a year. We all see that.

Last year we lost 14 games and came 6th..

Next year we won't be losing 14 games, that I know -

We're going upwards, deal with it  - all evidence points to it.

Ihave been generally optimistic since 2005, the summer of 2010 included when we were down and out with H&G, Roy and the lot! The lost in the race to 19 must have been the last straw! Oh optimism where art thee?
