They should have been shitWhat a weird team!
These highlights make Crouch and Pennant look like world beaters
We should have won that final too - had Crouch started, I think we would have too ... It was odd, 2005 was a wonderful, beautiful night for a team that wasn't near Milan's level. I thought 2007 was a team that was as good, if not better, and it was disappointing to win ...
Correction - if Bellamy started left wing instead of Zenden
I thought the same after watching that.
Rafa was his own worst enemy with all the chopping and changing of players.
Two things stood out for me there...
- Imagine Gerrard's drive and penetration from midfield in this Liverpool team of Klopp's. Fuck me.
- Rafa took a team of Pennant-crossing-it-to-Crouch to a Champions League final. He was a miracle worker.
I really liked crouch. Unselfish striker who was a nightmare due to his skills and heightCrouch did ok. If he'd have come in with Torres instead of as the main striker a year or so before, he'd have been a solid option for us for a few years and something resembling a plan B. He scored enough goals, once he actually started scoring. His overall record was 1 goal every 3-4 games.

Lucas and biscan definitely. Bobby isn't a cult hero though. He's just liked. Similar to kuyt.I don't suppose anyone needs reminding what I thought about him. I fucking hated him.
It's odd that I seem to come down on the "wrong side" of many "Liverpool Cult Hero" types, those classic underdog players that are shit for ages and then start becoming popular with the fans. Lucas was another one. Firmino another. Was Biscan one?

One memory always sticks in my head thinking about that season. The week before our first game in the Champions League, a poster on here (who I'm pretty sure was Mark), made a great thread about the return of a European great in Robbie Fowler, tipping him to score a few goals and mark his return to Europe. Naturally he then went on to have a thoroughly average game.
Oh it 100% wasI felt like an outcast because I didn't feel as excited about Fowler's return as everyone else. It was a bit depressing because he was so obviously past his best and it seemed another desperate, low-cost option.
It was purely a nostalgia trip, I still remember watching him play that season and thinking he looked so out of place, his physique was closer to Rafa's than that of a footballer by that point. I'm still glad we got him back though, great seeing him score again.I felt like an outcast because I didn't feel as excited about Fowler's return as everyone else.
