Doubters to Believers - New Prime documentry

Anyone else watched this ?
Bit wary as wasn’t in mood to go through last season again but it’s more underpinned and interlieved with retro on Klopp reign.
Enjoying it so far…

Pre Match - PSG (A) - Weds 20:00

I said Monday but let’s give the people what they want.

Tricky fixture to assess. PSG are the only team in Europe performing better than us, they’ve been prolific since getting the Georgian in. However they’ve not had any hard opponents in this spell and facing us should be a shock to the system.

I think the only question mark for us is the front three. I could see Slot trying both Szob and Jones away from home but kinda hoping we get Gakpo back in and ‘usual’ 4231

Alisson

Trent
Konate
Virgil
Robbo

Gravenberch
Macca
Szobo

Salah
Jota
Gakpo

Save Diaz and Jones for tired legs.

You’re doing a great job, son, a great job

Future Barca or Real players

Unfortunately many of our tops stars over the years have gone to Real or Barca.
Xabi, Mascherano, Owen, Macca, Suarez etc.

Which ones in our current squad do you think will end up in a Real or Barca kit?
I don't mean now, maybe when they're 28-29 and have won everything at LFC.

Szobo, if he continues to follow the Gerrard/ Lampard trajectory. If not one of the Spanish teams, he'll go to Bayern or Juve or something.

Macca. Top class South Americans tend to end up there.

Diaz, possibly this summer.

Trent obviously

I think Ali might go to Spain too.

Endo

I think Endo deserves his own thread.

It was clear from the off that Slot didn’t appear to rate him and his days were numbered.

A severe lack of playing time and Gravy emergence as a superstar in the 6 seemed to spell the end for our loveable no 3.

What have seen shine through more than anything is his insane attitude and commitment to giving it absolutely everything, whether he’s on the pitch for 1 minute or 20 mins.

Each and everytime he’s come on he’s done something positively noteworthy and has even made such a strong impression that Slot has said in more than one press conference that the best possible attitude anyone could have is his and that’s he’s the shining example.

It feels like maybe just maybe the captain of Japan has won over Slot and will rightfully lift the PL.

He’s arguably my favourite player (sorry Salah) and there is a great life lesson in concentrating on only what you can control.

His attitude would be so impressive to be around if you are a young player coming through or a fringe squad player.

What a legend and a what masterful signing he’s turned out to be. I was excited about it at the time and couldn’t be happier for him.

A Schmadtke special!!!

The Football Director Thread

Recent results have revealed a deeper appreciation for the Ibizian efforts of Jörg Schmadtke who was with us when we signed Endo, Macca, Gravy and Sboz in the 2023 summer window which effectively reshaped and replaced our aging midfield.

Is he an unsung hero of our club? Either way, he's moved up in my Football Director ratings. How would you rate them?

Here's hoping Richard Hughes gets the same thread in 2027, two years after the Summer Window signings of 2025.

Football Directors Index
1. Michael Edwardinho

2. Jörg Schmadtke

3. Richard Hughes (for signing Slot, but likely a joint decision with ME)

4. Julian Ward

5. Damian Comedy

====

1. Edwards: VVD, Salah, Mane, Fab, Gini, and most of the Klopp era part 1.

2. Jorg: Gravy, Endo, Sboz?

3. Hughesy: Chiesa, and SLOT.

4. Upon promotion to Liverpool FC's sporting director in 2022, Ward led on the signings of a number of players, including Colombian international Luis Díaz, Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez, Dutch winger Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister.

5. In the summer transfer window for the 2011–12 season, Comolli helped Liverpool sign Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Doni, José Enrique, Sebastián Coates and Craig Bellamy. On 12 April 2012, Comolli left Liverpool by mutual consent

Liverpool's Best PL team

Saw this on some site ...
I'm not 100% sure with the Carra selection - I feel Hyypia or Henchoz, or even Ibou at his *peak*, are better than Carra was.

Alexis

Cost 35 million quid.
What a fucking bargain.
He's fucking gifted on the ball, but he's an argie pitbull defensively and harasses opposing players non-stop.
What a key cog in this run.
