The fixtures don't bode well for them.

Thiago is bloody imperious. Love watching him play, utter class.

True dat, plus he was active in getting the crowd going.  If (IF) his fitness can hold up, he's going to be absolutely crucial to our season.

Home boy, innit.  Some players can only bloom in home soil and he's starting to look like one of them.

He only has to pass the ball to Haaland to register an assist now though.

True but, the rate he's going, the chance to do so may not come to him equally often in the future.  Given the money he'll be on he might not care about that but, if he DOES care about how often he plays and about doing himself justice, IMO the jury's out on how much longer he'll be there.

A Spurs fan I know from the gym has an interesting take on it.  He reckons it's less a case of Son having fallen short of previous standards, more a case of Richarlison tearing it up when he got the chance and making it very hard for Conte to drop him and bring Son back in.

Yet Son is 10 times the player Richarlison is. It's daft, but form and all that jazz.

Same similarity there with Salah in terms of chances created and goals scored. Fatigue/lack of rest too?

Article: With 23 Premier League goals last season, Son tied for the Golden Boot with Mo Salah although none of his came from the penalty spot. The Korean striker ended last season riding the crest of a wave of popularity and recognition, but this season he simply hasn’t caught light, having failed to score in any of his eight appearances for Spurs this season. He is off the pace. His first touch is frequently indelicate, and his shooting sights seem mis-aligned. He looks tired.

And small wonder. He played 96 club games over the course of the 2021 and 2022 seasons, as well as making 14 international appearances. While England’s players were coming unstuck in the Nations League, he flew back to Seoul for four friendly matches against Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Egypt.

He scored in two of those games, and then Spurs arrived for their Korean tour.
He scored twice in their first friendly against a K-Team representative XI, but hasn’t managed to score since then, and with the pressure turned up a notch as a result of his achievements last season, this has certainly been noticed.

He's got this season to impress and that's it. They shipped out Sterling on the presumption he'd be able to step up. If he doesn't, the replacement will be in next summer. Even if Grealish isn't immediately sold, his days will be numbered if he's not tearing it up by spring.

City’s game is all about pass pass pass (and now a final pass / punt to the big Norwegian).
Grealish’s game is about holding onto the ball, waiting for someone to foul him.
I was amazed they signed him.
I’m not at all surprised it isn’t working, just disappointed it didn’t disrupt them a bit more.

But who would buy him? £100m. Even if City take a huge loss (and continue to pay a large part of his salary) he's still going to be £50-60m. I doubt City care though.

Haha so far it seems they are far more astute than that.

Son will still hit double figures in the league even if Conte does feel now is the time to maybe drop him.

Hell of a signing he's been for Spurs.
