So, I'm an English high school teacher and the Year 12's (Last year of school) have their end of year exams coming up.
We've been back from holidays for a week now and there was this one girl who had not been in my class all week. Turns out her father died suddenly during the holidays. He died on the Friday and it was her 18th birthday on the Saturday.
I saw her today and she was telling me that seeing as though her parents were divorced, she was listed as next of kin, meaning the two weeks before her final exams, she has to organise her dad's autopsy (because he died suddenly), funeral arrangements, and tie up all loose ends.
Poor girl. Some kids have it so tough.
