Caused by no cover from midfield.

And if they were defensive problems (+ midfield problems) the plan is to buy more strikers???
Forwards lose possession way too much which leaves us exposed.

Mane lost the ball to cost us the 2nd goal tonight correct or was it the 3rd can't remember who gives a fuck he lost the ball? Ok. So sign a striker who can trap the fucking ball.

Again Mane has chance to make it 3-3....wasteful. A proper striker buries that no problems we come away with a point no ones complaining.

Having a sound midfield and defense means losing possession wont be an issue. Especially with the way Klopp wants us to play with the press.

People will complain with the way we’re playing, it’s not balanced. Mane scoring the 3rd will have just hid it.

Klopp was just on saying he thinks the first goal should been called a foul because Ogbonna shoved Ali's hand into the ball and that's what caused the goal.

What caused the goal, and the third, was having no one on the fucking posts and having a goalie who was shitting himself for some reason.

We scored twice away. We keep scoring twice or more and not winning. It's not on the attackers.

The first time we had a clean sheet in ages against Manure we played Konate. What happens next game? Dropped. So we concede twice against Brighton and three against West Ham.

Konate played against Brighton, he was fucking dreadful

There was a sequence around the 70th minute or so when we lost a series of 50/50s in midfield, each one of them led directly to West Ham running straight at our 2 centre backs. After the 2nd or 3rd time you could see Virgil turn around and look at Fabinho as if to say "do your fucking job, this isn't good enough"

All of our midfielders were bad today,I thought Fabinho was shocking. Going over looking for soft fouls instead of competing when you are high up the pitch is just not acceptable as a DM. There was no screen at all, every turn over lead to a West Ham run on goal. Fabinho and Henderson were awful.

I've made this point before but our midfield looks dangerously slow when they get turned. It's fine dominating games where we have 70% of the ball and it's all in front of you but Hendo and Fabinho are nowhere to be seen once the ball is turned over, opposing midfielders and leaving them for dust.

Spot on with that. I think that is the issue with us - we are very the team of early Klopp - to eager to get forward and leave ourselves open, and it don't matter who you have in midfield - this is what you will end up with. The problems we have are not in the striker department or the defense, it is purely midfield that is our problem. The balance and positioning is wrong, they are two far forward, and I think the issue is caused by the front three not coming in deeper and exchanging positions, so that Hendo and Fab can stay deeper to shield the defense.

The front three seem too keen to be in goal-scoring position which I think is detrimental to the whole team. Today that here was a point where Salah in the first half came deeper and did this amazing quick run and usher the others to get forward - I thought that was a great moment. That sort of thing means Hendo+Fab can stay deeper. The other problem is that the loss of Gini has meant we lack an athletic build midfielder - the others are either just not fast enough to stop situations like today for the 2nd goal. We really needed a Bissouma and the loss of Elliot/Jones has really fucked us up. If Ox had the right footballing brain - we could have turned him into a Gini type player - but his passing in the final third was very bad today.

Thought the first was a foul. Allison was impeeded as he tried to go for the ball. An outstretched arm prevented him from making a fair challenge for the ball. Anywhere else on the pitch it's a foul. The challenge on Hendo was a red card. Came right OTT and was dangerous play. The Ref didn't even give a foul.

Not enough prep was done for their set peices. VVD and Matip gave Allison no protection. VVD & Matip don't attack the ball. VVD wasn't really in the mix for the header that hit the bar. If you have a specialist set peice team, known for it, you have to be more proactive. All they had to do was shut off Allison and they had a chance.

We didn't really deserve to win it but we should've come away with a point. Done in the air, twice. Very poor, some of the teams lower down we notice we don't attack the incoming ball and they will add that to their tactics together with the ball over the top counter attack ploy. If we don't tighten up in defence problems will get worse.

Dave Jones is a right muppet.

"There have been 5 manager sackings, 20% of the teams....4 of the 5 have come in the bottom 5"

WELL WHERE FUCKING ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO COME FROM YA SOGGY NUGGET
Well to be fair Spurs and it could easily be United.

All this is really on the cunts at FSG. Act like you care about winning football matches just a little bit and open your fucking wallets.
It boils down to this ultimately. The title race is hardly over, but to win titles, you need to go on long winning runs. We did 18 on the trot in the title winning year, and City have regularly done 10+ winning runs in the last few years. The key to that is having a largely stable and unchanged lineups. You can rotate say between 11-14 players. The trouble is our midfield combination is changing a billion times.

We have the numbers on paper (7 midfielders), but about none of them who we can rely upon to play 50 games a season. Fab and Hendo typically put in about 40 games a year, so they're the most reliable of the lot. Gini was the only one who could give you a marathon 50 games a year with solid 7/10 performances.

Thiago, Ox, Keita can't be relied upon to play more than 25-30 games a year. Ox is totally useless anyway. Jones and Elliott are kids.

Our next major signing has to be a physically and tactically reliable CM.

It seems we really needed this loss to allow our fans to pretend to know they know anything about football.

Why? What makes it different to any other loss we've had int the past
Nothing, just that we didn't lose for such a long time some of you had to bite back your criticism.

Now we can pretend to know better than Jurgen for a week.

I only saw the first half but we were out played by West Ham, their intensity, physicality and will to dictate the pace of the game won out. The main criticism I had from that first half was how wasteful Robbo was down the left, his end product recently has been shit. Did he used to be so poor at finding players? Was it just volume of crosses that bumped his stats or has he regressed? Either way, he needs resting as he has dropped off significantly.

No one is going against Klopp though are they?

We lost, we accept it....tactics were wrong, West Ham were better than us and we trust Klopp will get the team to bounce back from it.

Actually the fact that we had not lost was actually papering over our issues. And @dmishra is correct, we have hardly put on a run of winning games this season and further we need to beat nearly all and every team that is not a rival for the title, so the Brentford, Brighton, West Ham, games we should be winning. Also, i would argue we lost points against Chelsea who were down to 10 men, and then we drew with City from being in winning position twice. Just not title winning form, and even if we had won all those games, we have a really difficult fixture list at the end of the season, and based on current form i see more draws and losses than wins.

I also think the manner in which City, Chelsea are winning against the lower sides is with more ease and control than we are capable of. Our players are fucking exhauseted.

Someone pointed it out in this thread, but the midfield is pretty messed up organisationally at the moment. Hendo watched Elliot play a very focused role supporting Mo on the right wing and seems to be doing this religiously. Trent is drifting inside a lot and it is leaving the right side of our defence exposed, and also generally losing us a body in the middle meaning we are getting murdered on transitions.

When we already have an AM (Ox) on the pitch, we need the other two CMs to play the system and own the middle. Hendo's constant floating around whilst at times effective is also leaving huge gaps that are getting exposed.

There were some idiotic comments yesterday and some valid ones. I don't think most were pretending to know anything above the ordinary. The warning signs have been there in quite a few games this season and the issues that were exploited are ones that have been noted over the last couple of seasons.

We've been in great form, but I don't think everything is perfect or we have to just take this on the chin. We're conceding quite a bit and looking vulnerable. It's not cuntish to address that.

It's not cuntish at all. I'm just bemused by all the analysis we're able to do after a loss.

Defence on corners just seemed a bit to passive. Allison wasn't given any protection. VVD & Matip have to be more aggresive, attack the ball. All they had to do was get in front of Allison and they did that very easily. Still 3 home games coming up. Need to get as many points to be able to deal with losing Mo, Sadio and Nabby to Afcon 21.

Mark Halsey the former ref said the Cresswell "tackle" on Hendo was Red. But the fact that Pawson didn't even give a foul probably influenced the VAR ref. If Pawson had actually done his job and given at least a yellow, VAR might have had wriggle room. Even then they should've sent Pawson over to the moniter. He couldn't duck the decision if he had a second look.

Halsey said the challenge on Allison was fair and no foul. When we play Konate next we should tell him, on corners stand right in front of their keeper and when you jump flail your arms about, up and over your head....see what happens then.

It was a clear foul, you can use your arms to gain height but not throw them behind you as you barge backwards into the keeper.

Well - look. I think it's going to be a clear blueprint for corners against us for the rest of the season because it was highly effective. So it will be interesting to see if the refs are consistent from match to match, or if they introduce some kind of rule at some point explicitly forbidding it.
