Always good to see goals in the academy. I feel like our young attacking players rarely go out on loan, but that our young defenders and midfielders are always out on loan. Would make watching random teams more fun if we had an academy striker or winger down in league 2 learning his trade.

Not sure about Mini Fellaini, he looks very awkward and cumbersome.

Mini Trent on the other hand looks decent.

I know its compilations but they look so promising, and normally I am dissing our academy.
Irish Trent

English Salah

Until they head out on loan or experience what senior football is like with the first team then watching youth highlight clips is pretty pointless, you're never going to get an idea how good a teenager is this way, plus they don't even look any better in those clips than the likes of Jack Dunn, David Amoo, Eccleston, Sinclair etc and all these others guys that were destined for bigger and better things.

If you could combine Trent's skill and Jayden's physicality you'd have a hell of a player. Both look very good. It has been too long since we had a striker from the academy make the grade. Far too long.

So here's some tidbits about the u18s you might not have known starting with the young striker/forward Lewis Koumas. You might recognise the surname and yes, he is the son of former LFC youth player and Tranmere star Jason Koumas.
Jaydon Danns is the son of Neil Danns a former footballer from Liverpool who had journeyman career mainly in the lower divisions of the football league.
Then there's Keyrol Figueroa, I'm guessing you've figured out the pattern here, yes he's the son of the former Wigan player Maynor Figueroa.
Have to mention Lee Jonas, the lesser known brother of the "Jonas brothers" and Tom Hill Great-grandson of TV star Benny Hill.

Some good info, sourced from here:

GK - Kornel Misciur: Signed from Hull City this past Summer, bear-like frame similar to Alisson in that respect, tall and wide. Great shot stopper. Poland youth international.

RB - Lucas Pitt: Oozes nous, trusted in a number of positions. Centre-back, left-back, right-back, midfield on a rare occasion. Not poor physically by any means but doesn’t rely on physicality to win ball more so anticipates and reads game well.

CB - Amara Nallo: Signed from West Ham this past Summer and has been put straight up to U21 level as a first-year scholar. Tall, glides with the ball but also when he defends at times, good in the air and often selects the smartest passes. Of course, ups and downs as a young CB playing up - or at any level.

CB - Wellity Lucky: One of Liverpool’s Spanish representatives at the club having being called up by both Spain and England at youth level. Physical presence at back, front-footed defender.

LB- Josh Davidson: One who isn’t in a natural position but it makes sense with Davidson regularly inverting as a right-back, here he inverts as a left-back. Another scouser with great tenacity up and down the pitch, won’t give up any ball but the quality of his passing is sublime and to be admired. Great all rounder.

DM - Mick Laffey. Good range of passing and bite in the tackle, does well wherever he’s played - has also been used as an inverted right-back. Focussing on versatility probably does actual ability a disservice. Can get forward and provide threat.

CM - Kieran Morrison: Best work as a midfielders comes when foraying into the final third. Clean and consistent striker of the ball with the swagger and confidence to match means he can never be afforded too much space. Capable of off-the-cuff skill.

CM: Trey Nyoni: Fleet footed and multi-functional. Rich run of form when first joining from Leicester. Composure in high pressure moments and final actions, Nyoni plays with an image in his head of the pitch that precedes that of the opposition. Impressive level of calmness and oozes ball mastery. Taller, slender frame allows him to tip-toe around the pitch. Probably the defensive stuff to refine.

RW: Trent Kone-Doherty - Wiry winger capable on either side, can often be seen timing a diagonal run into the box when the ball is on the other side with a real nose for goals. Can turn on a dime and manipulates body well to beat man rather than using outrageous skill.

LW: Lewis Koumas - Another capable of playing across the front-line, really. A standout academy player so far this season with his goals at U21 level. Can drop deep and bring others into play, has a range of finishes in his locker. Such a well rounded player and there’ll be loan interest this window. A regular with Jurgen Klopp’s first-team trainers.

ST: Jayden Danns - Incredible transformation from his season as a first-year scholar. A credit to himself in that regard with his work away from the pitch coming to fruition on it. He’s not just turned into a ruthless finisher in-front of goal putting up tremendous numbers so far but he’s become a focal point of attack. Drops deep centrally and uses towering frame couples with a good solid range of passing to bring others into play. But, in front of goal this season… phwoar.

I know this is unfair, but these kids make Ben Doak look like a kick and run merchant
How so? Because they're different players to him? You do realise Doak is a kid himself and is in the same age bracket at those right?

I for one hope that Wellity Lucky makes it as a player - with a name like that he deserves to.

He’s going to be called Lucky Tits… isn’t he?

Honestly, it's about mentality too. Doak is fearless. He'd probably run circles around the players at that level if the U18s decide to boost their squad before a potential FA youth cup final. To be sure, I just looked it up and on the FA website it says: "The players selected must be under 18 at midnight on 31 August in the current season". Doak turned 18 in November, so he's eligible.

Its totally unfair to compare Doak's experience to the kids, as he was promoted to 1st team pretty much straight away. He is now out till April/May , so won't see any game time this season. If he does, then playing some u21 games should be a good yardstick measure the youth academy

He scored 10 goals for the U18’s, U19’s & U21’s in his first season when he was 16.

No idea how many games or which level he scored at.
