Sunderland AFC chairman Ellis Short said: “Dick’s credentials in football are top class and we saw what an impact his vast knowledge and experience had on our team and the club as a whole in just two months.

[article]The Premier League has decided to bring forward the time clubs have to submit transfers on deadline day this summer to 6pm, although an extra day has been added to the window.

The time has been changed to the earlier one of 6pm to allow clubs competing in next season's Champions League - Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United - to get their teams for the tournament submitted to Uefa by their deadline of 11pm.

Despite bringing forward the time, the Premier League have extended this year's summer transfer window to September 1 to account for the fact the final day of August is a bank holiday.

The change of time will make viewing the close of the window for fans a little different than previous years, with Sky Sports becoming famed for their coverage of it.

The broadcaster has regularly used presenters Jim White and Natalie Sawyer as their main anchors for the close of the transfer window as reporters provide live updates from outside the grounds of every Premier League club.[/article]

[article=http://as.com/diarioas/2015/06/04/english/1433428227_700801.html]Real Madrid have snapped up Bruno Iglesias, a 13-year-old who is considered to be the best footballer of his age group in Spain. Madrid moved to the front of the queue for the youngster ahead of other clubs who had expressed an interest including Barcelona, Atlético and Manchester City. Iglesias is on the books at UD Santa Marta, based in Salamanca, which has produced professional players before: Nacho (Celta), Rivera (Málaga), and Pescador (Levante).

A forward who was tipped for greatness early on by one of his first coaches, Pedro Ramos, who told Iglesias if he worked hard one day he would play up front for Spain, he scored 55 goals in Santa Marta's youth team in the local division last season, more than any other player, as his side won their group in the provincial competition. He also represented Castilla y León in the Spanish national championship.

Iglesias will join Madrid's youth B team, whose assistant coach is Guti, in August. Real's scouts were particularly impressed by Iglesias' technical ability, his vision on the pitch and his physical attributes.

Iglesias was at Real's Valdebebas training complex this week to see for himself the club's installations, at which time the deal to bring him Real Madrid was finalized. Current Castilla goalkeeper Jacob Sánchez was also signed from UD Santa Marta in 2012.[/article]

[article=http://www.achtzehn99.de/tsg-sign-schmid-grifo-joins-freiburg/]TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Jonathan Schmid from SC Freiburg. The 24-year-old Frenchman has agreed a contract with the Kraichgau club until 30th June 2019. Vincenzo Grifo will join the relegated Bundesliga club as part of the deal.

“Jonathan Schmid fits in perfectly with our playing style,” said Alexander Rosen, director of football at TSG. “We’re very happy to have strengthened our squad with such a dynamic and versatile player, who is also a weapon from set pieces,” continued Rosen. The attacking talent didn’t just shine as a goalscorer for Freiburg during the recent Bundesliga campaign, finding the net four times, but his tally of eleven assists also demonstrates his quality.

The Strasbourg-born attacking midfielder says he is “excited to enter new environment”. After being relegated with SC Freiburg, a club Schmid spent seven “enjoyable and successful” years with, he was determined to continue his development in the Bundesliga. “TSG 1899 Hoffenheim offer the optimal conditions for me to take the next step in my career,” said Schmid.

Jonathan Schmid has made 118 Bundesliga appearances so far. He has been involved in 49 goals in that time, scoring 20 himself and setting up the other 29.

Heading in the other direction – from Hoffenheim to Freiburg – is Vincenzo Grifo. The 22-year-old midfielder, who had a deal with TSG until 30th June 2017, wants to seize the opportunity to take a step forward with SCF. Grifo joined Hoffenheim from Karlsruher SC on a free in July 2012. He was loaned out to then second-division side Dynamo Dresden in January 2014. Following their relegation, he joined FSV Frankfurt on loan and scored seven goals in 33 appearances in the recent second-division campaign.[/article]

[article=http://www.achtzehn99.de/fabian-schaer-joins-tsg-from-fc-basel/]TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have completed a further signing for the 2015/16 season. Fabian Schär will move to the Kraichgau from Swiss giants and Champions League last-16 participants FC Basel. The 23-year-old centre back has signed a contract with the club until 30th June 2019.

“We have taken another step forward in our squad planning with the signing of Fabian Schär,” said Alexander Rosen. Much like with the signing of Jonathan Schmid, who has joined from SC Freiburg, the club have been able to acquire another player who, according to TSG’s director of football, fits the club’s profile perfectly. “Schär’s build-up play is very good and he is someone who has already been able to gain international experience at a young age, yet still has plenty of potential,” explained Rosen.

Fabian Schär, who has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs, is confident that Hoffenheim will provide him with the perfect conditions to develop further: “There is a young, ambitious team here and a perfect infrastructure.” The Switzerland international said it was “no secret” that he was happy to move abroad, and Alexander Rosen is delighted that Schär has chosen TSG as his preferred destination. “For him to sign for Hoffenheim is certainly confirmation of the great work we are doing here,” said the 36-year-old.

After working his way through the youth setup of his hometown club FC Wil, Fabian Schär moved from their first team to FC Basel 1893 in July 2012. He has featured in 110 competitive games for the Swiss giants, scoring 15 goals. The 6’1’’ defender’s final appearance for the club will come on Sunday, when Basel take on FC Sion in the domestic cup final. Schär was in Switzerland’s squad at the 2014 World Cup and has won twelve caps for the senior national team so far (5 goals). He also played two matches for his country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.[/article]

[article=http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2015/06/05/everton-to-sign-cleverley]Everton has agreed a deal to sign Tom Cleverley when his contract expires at Manchester United on July 1.

The 25-year-old England midfield player will arrive on a five-year contract, becoming the first signing of the summer by manager Roberto Martinez.

Cleverley, a key figure in the team which won the Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season as manager at Old Trafford, made 38 Premier League appearances last season, 37 of which were on a season-long loan for Aston Villa.

Cleverley has been called up to the England squad for the upcoming friendly against the Republic of Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia, having secured 13 caps since making his debut in England’s first match after Euro 2012 in a 2-1 win against Italy at the Stade de Suisse in Bern.

He went on to play a big part in England’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, featuring in seven of the 10 group H games.

Martinez said: “We are extremely delighted to be welcoming Tom to Everton and I can think of many reasons as to why our fans will enjoy Tom representing our football club.

“The most important one is that he is a perfect fit for what we are trying to build here as he has so much experience of playing in the Premier League and he still has his best years just ahead of him.

“At the age of 25 and a player who is representing his country, Tom has experienced winning trophies and having big roles in demanding teams. Having worked with him previously, I know the type of character he is and I know that, with the Everton fans’ support, we will get a very special footballer joining our already exciting team.

“It says a lot also, when someone like Tom is available on a free transfer and he can pick his next club out of many options home and abroad, that he has chosen to play for our football club. That’s the perfect start to his career here at Everton.”[/article]

Anthony Knockaert - Standard Liege (free transfer)

[article]STANDARD LIEGE have announce the signing of Leicester City outcast Anthony Knockaert on a four-year deal.

The Belgian giants have landed Knockaert on a free transfer after the Frenchman saw out his contract at the Foxes.

The winger joined the ranks at Leicester in 2012 for a reported £750,000 from Guingamp and was an instant success in England.

The 23-year-old helped the club to the Championship play-offs semi-finals during his first season and then the title the year after, racking up 16 goals and 15 assists.

However, Knockaert failed to keep his first-team place in the Premier League and regularly found himself playing in the Under-21s side.

Foxes boss Nigel Pearson revealed the club had offered Knockaert a new deal, but he has instead opted to switch to the Belgian Pro League.

A club statement read: "Standard Liege welcome Anthony Knockaert and success under our colours. The French winger has signed a four-year contract."[/article]

[article=http://www.espnfc.co.uk/sporting-lisbon/story/2480674/jorge-jesus-completes-shock-move-from-benfica-to-rivals-spor?]Jorge Jesus has crossed one of football's greatest divides by leaving Benfica to take charge of their fierce Lisbon rivals Sporting.

The 60-year-old thrice guided Benfica to the Primeira Liga title and twice into the Europa League final during his six years in charge at the Estadio da Luz, but when he stalled over signing a new contract, rumours began to circulate in Portugal that he was preparing to make a shock switch across the capital.

And on Friday night Sporting confirmed they had appointed Jesus as the successor to Marco Silva through their official Twitter account.

The Amadora-born tactician started his senior playing career with Sporting in 1973, and 39 years after leaving he has returned to pen a three-year contract as head coach at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Club president Bruno de Carvalho tweeted: "His only demand was that he was allowed to coach his favourite club."

Late Thursday, Benfica said they had terminated contract renewal negotiations with Jesus and were looking for a new coach for next season. Sporting fired Silva the same day.

Jesus was widely expected to extend his six-year stint at the Stadium of Light, where he captured his 10th trophy last month, becoming the storied club's most successful coach.

He is the first coach to ever move directly between Benfica and Sporting

[article=http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/150530-quique-flores-appointed-watford-fc-head-coach-2475764.aspx]WATFORD FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Europa League winner Quique Flores as the club’s new Head Coach.

The Spaniard, who boasts a wealth of top-flight experience in his home country and Portugal, has signed a two-year contract to lead the Hornets upon their return to the Premier League.

He will be assisted by Alberto Diaz and Antonio Carlavilla, alongside Dean Austin who will remain within the Vicarage Road coaching structure.

Flores guided Atletico Madrid to Europa League glory during his first season at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, defeating Roy Hodgson’s Fulham in the 2010 final, just a week prior to the club’s first Copa del Rey final appearance in a decade.

Later that summer, Flores’ Atletico lifted the prestigious UEFA Super Cup thanks to a 2-0 victory over UEFA Champions League winners Inter Milan.

After a spell in charge of Real Madrid’s youth teams, Flores took his first coaching role with Getafe in 2004, before progressing to former club Valencia, where he achieved a third-place La Liga finish and Champions League qualification in his first year at the helm.

The 50-year-old took ‘Los Che’ to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, where they were narrowly beaten over two legs by Chelsea, after overcoming the likes of Roma and Inter during previous rounds.

Valencia once again qualified for the Champions League after a fourth-place La Liga finish under Flores’ stewardship in 2007, while two years later he coached Benfica to Portugal’s Taca da Liga trophy following victory against Sporting CP in the final.

Prior to his most recent position – a second spell at La Liga outfit Getafe earlier in 2015 – Flores had stints in the United Arab Emirates with Al Ain and Al Ahli Dubai.

A 15-cap Spain international as a player, defender Flores represented Valencia, Real Madrid and Real Zaragoza during a successful playing career which ended in 1997.[/article]

Casemiro - Real Madrid (buy back, €7.5 million)
ngB54B9F1B-5153-4243-B248-343079730827.jpg

[article]"Real Madrid CF have exercised their option to recover the federative rights of the player Casemiro, after FC Porto announced the intention to activate a purchase option," read a statement from the Bernabéu issued on Friday morning.

Earlier this week, Real Madrid informed Porto that they would exercise the right to buy the Brazilian midfielder back after a season-long loan at the Primeira Division club. The operation to bring Casemiro back to the Spanish capital will cost 7.5 million euros.

Porto paid Real one million euros last season to take Casemiro on loan. In the contract was a clause starting that the Portuguese club could buy the player for 15 million at the end of his loan spell. But Madrid also inserted a buy-back option. Therefore the Bernabéu retained the right to annul the purchase option and recover Casemiro for a fee of 7.5 million. When Porto last week announced their intention to sign Casemiro permanently, Real Madrid had until today to decide whether or not to activate the clause. Now that Rafa Benítez has occupied the vacant managerial position and given the green light for the Brazilian's return, Real have got the cheque book out to re-sign the 23-year-old.[/article]

They did something similar with Jose Callejon. Had him for a season before selling him for a profit. Guess they think he will command a fee of more than the €15 million fee Porto were ready to activate?

Isn't Callejon a totally different case? It looks like they actually sold Callejon (then in RM Castella) to Espanyol in '08, then bought him back in '11, whereas Casmiro is a case of a loan with an option to buy, and they ended up paying to cancel the option.

Last week it was reported that Porto wanted to use their option of 15 mill to sign him.
Some of these transfer set ups are ridiculous.

Hopefully 3rd party ownership will at least be banned.

Oh yeah, that's right. Was thinking more about the buy back clause which they have included and/or exercised a number of times to their benefit. They can buy back Morata for £22m this summer or £26m next. Wonder how high the possibility is.

Does Morata have a say on whether he goes or not? I'd imagine he's quite enjoying life at Juventus.

Yeah, wonder the same too. But if the player in question rejects the move, doesn't it make such clause kinda useless? I guess personal terms still have to be agreed upon though.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos - Leverkusen (€6.5 million)

[article=http://www.bayer04.de/B04-ENG/en/_site_index.aspx]Bayer 04 Leverkusen keep faith with Kyriakos Papadopoulos over the long term. The Champions League qualifiers have reached agreement with Bundesliga rivals Schalke 04 for a permanent move to Leverkusen for the Greece international who was on a season loan at Bayer 04. Papadopoulos has signed a contract that keeps him at the Werkself to 30 June 2020.

“I’m really happy it’s all gone through,” said the central defender. “I had a fantastic time at Leverkusen this season in spite of the two serious shoulder injuries. The club has shown great confidence in me and worked hard to sign me and I’m grateful for that. I’m looking forward to playing with this great team and I think we can go places and be successful.”

Sporting director Rudi Völler emphasised the significance of the transfer that has enabled Bayer 04 to sort out an important position in the squad early on in the pre-season: “Kyriakos Papadopoulos showed his quality in central defence this term. Although he’s only 23 he hasa huge amount of experience and he has also impressed on the European stage,” said Völler. “On top of that, ‘Papa’ has fitted into our team really well. His battling, his passion and his total commitment have all been impressive.”

And CEO Michael Schade shared the view that the agreement with Schalke and Papadopoulos represents a key factor in building an effective team. Schade: “He scored a number of crucial goals for us this season but Papa’s unique heading ability is matched by his effect off the pitch. He’s an archetypal team player and a rock in tricky situations. After his first season at Leverkusen we were determined to keep this player at the club over the long term. We’re happy it’s worked out.[/article]
