It's a bit ironic but the women make male footballers seem like hopeless romantics by comparison. The women go from club to club these days, cold-eyed and ruthless - from Chelsea to Everton to us to the mancs without a second thought. They still do all the badge kissing, which only serves to make it even more risible. New money in the game encourages this, of course, but it's hard to see that settling down now that it's sparked this ferociously acquisitive culture. This time last year the LFC women's team pretty much fell apart because six players moved to the new Manchester United team, while several more went to Man City or London clubs. LFC brought in Neal Redfearn as manager, hardly the most delicate of souls, and he took one look at the devastation and scarpered. It's funny - the women's pro game is being sold strenuously as this really positive and 'nice' version of the game, yet in a way it's far bleaker and more cynical than the men's game.
