Positives from this season

Let’s not forget all the good stuff that happened this season just because the wheels came off at the end.

1. Quansah unexpectedly emerged as a top-class CB

2. Mac Allister is a baller and a great buy, future leadership material

3. Elliott proved that he belongs, he is a man now

4. Kelleher is good enough to be Premier League quality #1

5. @Bradley is a baller

6. The kids in the Academy and on loan are more than all right. Danns, Carvalho, Morton, Beck, Clark, Koumas, Nyoni, Van der Berg, Jaros all made major strides and Bajcetic and Gordon got over their growth issues.

7. Every player had at least patches of very good form - due to injuries it never fully came together, but at various points we saw the best of everyone: Jones, Endo, Szoboszlai, Gomez, Gravenberch, Jota, Gakpo, Nunez, Diaz - they all shone and even carried the team at one point or another.

8. Van Dijk is back to somewhere near his best

9. Trent is emerging as a leader, despite unsettled position.

10. We have a new structure in place and are back to the data-driven ruthless approach to transfers. Unlike most of the competition, we actually know how to run the club sustainably and are not threatened by the toughening of the rules.

Defending the Indefensible

The case is if it weren't for the heroics of our GKs we could be where Man U are.
Do we need the same surgery to our back line as our MF?
I think it has to be looked at. Yes, it's easy to be reactionary, but it's not quite worked at the back. God knows how many times I've seen them make a wayward pass that could have cost us.

If Klopp wasn't leaving..

How would you be feeling right now ahead of next season?

The resignation seems to have speeded up the notion that he's taken us as far as he can, given how dramatically we've collapsed, again.

On the flipside, our realistic objective for the season has been achieved.

What do we think?

Mentality Midgets or Arrogance?

It's galling the way our league title charge has fallen apart. But what is more galling is the thought and feeling that it's a deeper psychological aspect.

Klopp himself admitted there was a psychological aspect to this and admitted that he took responsibility for failing to get the players motivated. VVD the other day said that he felt some players in the team weren't giving it all. These are scary things to hear as a Liverpool fan.

I've noticed something creeping in our play and I don't know if it is arrogance or complacency, I guess this has shown itself when we've gone behind and then had to dig ourselves out of a hole many times.

I remember when we all laughed at Mane and Salah arguing or the sight of them throwing a strop when they got substituted but at least that showed a sense of passion.

Now it's looking at the likes of Gravenburch sauntering around on the pitch like he's late-stage Ronaldo, Nunez laughing/smiling when he misses another easy-open goal, Trent playing Hollywood balls every time he thinks he's the main character etc, Salah repeatedly trying to take on 6 players and then smashing a shot into row z.

I feel like there is something wrong with the chemistry of this team like there wasn't before....Yes only a few weeks ago we were talking about the QUAD but if were honest we haven't really played well for most of this season and A LOT of our wins were from losing positions, hence the feeling that there's some sort of complacency/arrogance in our ranks.

Liverpool 2.0 or 1.5?

I have never been fully convinced of this new version of the Liverpool team, even when there was talk of the QUAD.

And for this reason, I'm also scared about Klopp leaving. Is it that this team is decent or is being propped up to look as good as it does because Klopp has these amazing superpowers at elevating players to players way above their real levels?

For example, with players like Gravenberch, Nunez and Gakpo I feel like Klopp has dropped a fart and is trying to pretend that it wasn't him. I'm not convinced with those three players at all but they form a major part of our attacking future.

Hopefully, Arnie has the stones to come in with a breath of fresh air make some big decisions to clear out the deadwood and also make big decisions that he will need to. Do we persist with Darwin Gakpo and Gravenburch or do we try and move some of them on?
