With the way this season has gone I'm almost certain Liverpool, with it's favorable scheduling to close out the season, will finish with a huge flourish only to end up in fifth place and 2-3 points out of fourth. You just know it's gonna happen.

Wouldn't surprise me, but to be fair, that'd be a solid improvement over last season in the league with kenny and I'd take it.

I think there's a few that called this early in the season, 5th with the painful regret over a few fixtures that could've had us moving up that extra place. Worst type of outcome for the season, what if we hadn't draw with... or lost to... and the realisation of at least another year before the champions league again.

More likely is we start talking about fifth, raise expectations and then.... we lose 2-0 to the pass-master giants of Wigan!

But that was of course, before we turned that recent corner ( remembers glass is half full..)

I think we'll come in 6th or 7th; we'll get a couple of great wins and raise hopes that we can have a good go at coming in 4th or 5th. Unfortunately, we'll fail to follow up with a victory in a winnable fixture or two and ultimately fall short.

Probably, this team has shown over the last couple of seasons that they are pretty good when there is no expectation of success and the majority of their opponents are mentally on their summer holidays already

Fuck me I'll be over the moon dancing naked on the roof if we end up fifth, just don't see it myself. When I read the thread title I thought you would be saying losing to Wigan!!

I'd be very happy with 5th place and a few points behind whoever takes 4th.

What are we, 10 points behind with 11 games? I guess if everything goes well and we decide we'll play footy every game at the level we've seen vs Swansea etc, anything is possible.

There's a very slight chance that the FA Cup final could be between two top five sides (citeh vs scum/chel$ki) and therefore sixth is good enough for Europa League. If not there's always the fair play thing 🙂

This is what will happen.

We'll no doubt lose to Wigan before beating Spurs.

Probably, we'll have to kick shite out of Bale first though and learn how to close players down in midfield, otherwise you just know one of those Worldy's is going in.

Yes, I don't like the idea of Bale running through our porous midfield/defence region, our weakest area. Hopefully Lucas will be back to his best (he's slowly getting there) and will have him in his pocket.

Think of the minimum number of points which will clearly indicate that Brendan has made progress and it is worth sticking with him for a year.

Now think of the maximum number of points which will clearly demonstrate that Brendan has made no progress and we better fire him and get a new manager.

We will get a points tally exactly in the middle of the two in the zone of uncertainty creating confusion in the minds of the fans (atleast in mine) and numerous repeatetive debates on message boards throughout the summer on what is the best course for the future.

This club will f*** us all up, I tell you.
