Good. He's playing like a twat.

Reina
Insua
Agger
Skrtel
Degen
Mascherano
Lucas
Riera
Aquilani
Maxi
Torres

if gerrard is fit, lucas out aquilani deeper.

Granted he missed a sitter.
He was the only one having a go at that defense though. He was our main threat last night.
Oh and playing on the left.
Why Lucas and Kuyt never get injured?

Really? He's one of our only players this year who's played well (when played in position).

Playing him on the left simply doesn't work. He takes enough touches as it is on his favourite side of the pitch.

Good. He's playing like a twat.
yet you'd put Skrtel/Insua in defense - both have had very average years.
... and you'd put Riera in who's barely played.
... and you'd put LUcas in ... ahhh who cares, let's leave the man in.
... and you'd put Aquilani in, who's been very average and has created how many chances?

Yossi has been shit on the left and will ALWAYS be shit there. He's obviously not comfortable there and struggles non stop. But on the right? He's been very good ...

It says enough however when our squad is so thin that he's been one of best players this year alongside Mascherano & Reina ...

But yes! Good he's injured! Let's hope Aqua joins him! 😉

I blame Xabi.
It doesn't matter what he CAN play like or what he DOES play like in his favoured position. What matters is how he plays where the manager plays him, that's on the left and he's playing shit there. Riera is better

Yeah, but having less options doesn't help (or shouldn't). I'd rather he was fit and Rafa played Riera on the left and Benny on the right.
Youve missed my point totally.
I want the best player to play in each position. I'm sick of this square peg round hole wank. I saw it for years with England Under Sven and then that Ginger cunt. And it doesn't fucking work. Capello hasn't changed the world, he's found a system that works for every player, yes that means heskey playing ahead of better players, Barry too but it works because the players are suited to it.
Yossi should play in the hole. He won't, so i don't want him in my team, aside from how shit he is there, he ruins our balance. Same with kuyt at the moment.
Yes I'd play insua, Lucas and other players you may hate, because I believe in playing an inferior player in his own position than a superior one out of it.
Ask fabio.

But Insua is an inferior player who plays shit in his own position?

Besides those *inferior* players you talk about for England, your Barrys' and Heskeys' etc.. aren't inferior in the sense that they're shit.. they're just 'less better' than some England's top players.

The same can't be said for some of our lot unfortunetly. They're just poor players, period.

You mean TOTAL FOOTBALL Oncy. Apparently we teach our kids it these days

a) i don't hate lucas, i just don't want him in the starting 11 (like kuyt & yossi)
b) i don't hate Insua - i've always been a fan of his, i just think he's not ready to be playing every game in the league ... yet.
c) i understand your point now - makes sense i guess but Rafa's not the manager to adopt that rather logical approach.
Quite. But there's not really anything I can do about that is there? Rafa isn't going to change his formation for anyone, so I would like for him to play the best player per position in each position. Riera is our best lm and I still think insua is a better lb than aurelio. That's why I'd play them.

Why oh why did Yossi not square that last night?
Why oh why did Yossi not chip it last night?

That said, Yossi Benayoun has been far and away our player of the season on this season of absolute shitness.
Na. Mascherano has been actually brilliant.

Fair enough, but I couldn't disagree more about Insua over Aurelio.

I honestly can't see anything redeeming in Insua. He's slow, weak, short, lazy and can't defend to save his life. How many times has he been outpaced/outmuscled/megged/raped this season? Countless times. Infact, I struggle to think of a game where he hasn't cost a goal. There's has been SO many it's ridiculous.

Going forward, again he slow, not very skillful and is a poor crosser.

This guy is just woeful. There's actually not one thing he does well that I could point to and say "well at least he provides this".

Aurelio by virtue of being average is better.

It's been Mascherano or Pepe ... They've both been the shining light in a very very poor season.

------------Reina------------
Degan--Carra--Agger--Aurelio
------Masher--Aquilani-------
-Maxi-----Gerrard-----Riera--
----------Torres------------

EDIT. Or:

------------Reina------------
Degan--Carra--Agger--Aurelio
Maxi--Gerrard-Masher--Riera-
-------Kuyt--Torres---------

There isn't a worse LB in the Premiership than Insua. Aurelio is a long fucking way from perfect, but he's a better LB than Insua. By virtue of the fact that everybody is.

Same goes for Lucas. Easily one of the poorest CM's in the Premiership.

So neither of those cunts should play for us, ever.

And while Casper hasn't been great, either, he was one of the very few attacking threats we had last night

Gerrard and Masher have to play CM, until we work out if Purple Aqui is deffo going to be shit or not

What is the point of putting up a possible team/formation and omitting Lucas?
Rafa is going to play him. Every game. Always.
I think we'd all be happy with that. I'd still rather give up on playing one up front though.

I'd still prefer Mark's first team.
I've always wanted Gerrard behind 2 strikers. That hasnt changed.

--------mascher
Maxi------------riera
------Gerrard
----Torres-Kuyt

Rafa wont play like that.

Hopefully Torres won't be out long, he seemed fine when he ran off for the substitution.

Gerrards is more of a worry, tight hamstring is surely a couple of weeks.

Why is everyone always putting Riera in their lineups?

Isn't he injured?
God only knows. For some reason Rafa and the club seem to want to shroud him in mystery.

It's really frustrating given his promising first season - he might have really established himself on the left this season. Has he been frozen out? is he injured?

He doesnt appear on the injury update list on the offal, so maybe hes ready to come back

Rather than line-ups, formations and tactics it'd be nice to get 11 on the pitch ready to play football instead of just standing on it.

Really, the time for sophistication has gone, just some raw passion and an attitude to get involved and take the game to the opposition.
