My mate just rang to let me know it cost 60 quid to renew his 2 fan cards. What for? And then the local news was just on with a whole bit about LFC charging booking fees for cash window sales. Combined with the price increases and the fact you have to buy all your singles in advance - it's all balls.

Isn't this what happened when they took over the red sox? Ticket prices and membership prices were doubled?

Sometimes I feel like I might as well support Ryanair.

Fuck you Aer Lingus! We hate Easyjet and BA.

Commercialization boys. Should have happened 15 years ago
[/quote]

You say that as if it hasn't. It was 13 quid to get in 15 years ago. This season it's just on 50.

Putting renewals on fan cards and fake fees on cash sales just fucks people off.

Commercialization is usually used as a synonym for the club transparently ripping other off, who live far far away. Preferably Asian. Not quite so much the people going to the match.

Krump is right on this, this is like when I buy concert tickets through the fucking monopoly that is ticketmaster, and they charge me a convenience fee and handling fee worth 25% of the ticket price, or more, when the convenience is me printing out the ticket and saving them the handling. These additional little fees just piss people off needlessly.

Because I'm a terrible bore I've just gone and looked up the retail price ratio in the past 15 years, and it's 1.54 - thus the 13 quid ticket would have been 20 quid now if inflation applied. It's 250% of that... there's no argument that commercialisation had been applied to matchgoers.

There is a separate and valid debate about exploiting the brand - and that seems to be going very well - but we pay shitloads more for our tickets than Manure or anyone else outside of London.

To be fair Krump, imagine the quality of the product a couple decades ago. Watching us now surely has more value even before inflation. Fuck triangles, I'm talking really pretty lines and squares.
