Carra could be described as Barcas Puyol and Xavi as Liverpools Gerrard (vice versa). And while both defenders are equally as vocal (and heroic) on the pitch, both midfielder's are not. Just wondering peoples thoughts are on why Puyol carries Barca's armband and Gerrard carries ours! Ad if anyone would do it differently?

Great question. I'm really too tired to elaborate but in short I'd have to say because Gerrard has been a pivotal figure in the team for a much longer time than Carragher.
When Gerrard got into the team Carra was playing left back. Much can be said about those days.

Carra IMO didn't reach prominence until the 2003/04 or 2004/05 season when Rafa took over and permanently played him as a center back.

Carra is more vocal but Gerrard really shows his leadership by how he plays. (The same could be said about Carra, but to a lesser extent of course)

Depends on what you mean by vocal. Gerrard is vocal. But just not in the really fucking loud way Carra is.

Gerrard is only vocal when he wants to be i reckon. If he's not in the mood for a long hard slog he'll sack it and let someone else bother.

I reckon that's what he used to be like but I think he's definitely grown into the position of captain.

Yeah, i think he's improved no doubt, but i still think in some games he struggles to get a grip on he doesn't gee up the others as much.

Yeah but it's hard to try and motivate others when you know you're not having the best game yourself.

Constantly shouting at your team-mates will invariably lead to disputes, just look at what happened with Carra and Arbeloa.

I didn't agree with Gerrard being made captain at the time - why take it off Sami? He's a bit like Fabregas in that you feel he's been given the captaincy to appease his ego rather than for the benefit of the team. Gerrard has been our best player for a decade, and has at times carried and saved the team with moments of utter brilliance, so I suppose there's some logic to the Captain Fantastic tag. But really, he would have done those same things with or without the armband. I just feel Carra and Sami had more of what it takes to genuinely inspire and encourage their (often less-talented) team-mates in times of need.

Really? I'm of the opinion that Stevie's only ever vocal when things aren't going his way (not the teams)!
