Retiring today, and as Rurik said it deserves a new thread.
Fantastic player, fantastic lad and should have played more than the 210 games he got for us.





Not many better passers of the ball in todays game, if any.

In the same bracket as Jan Molby in my eyes. Fantastic player. Would love to see him back at the club in some capacity in the future.

I think he was better than Molby, not necessarily in his time with us but over the course of his career Xabi is way out in front

He was going from the time Benitez started sniffing around Gareth Barry. We got one more season out of Alonso which was his best ever for us, but then he was off.

Benitez was a terrible man-manager.
 
I love Xabi. A very fine player and seems like a very decent, intelligent and nice person too

Also handsome and beardy.

It would have been good to see him play for Liverpool more often, but I'm glad we had him for the time we did.

He was here in Singapore for a pre season friendly. We had like a 60k strong crowd shouting his name. He was out for a warm up but looked grumpy and moody. He didn't even looked up once. I don't think he played that day. He was off the next week.

Great midfielder, i think he love us. But i was never that taken by him.
