World cup squads

Do you think we'll see the usual world cup players in the squads?
I mean players who have barely participated in the qualification.

* Ronaldo (the fat one)
* Ronaldinho
* Henrik Larsson
* Michael Owen
etc.

I'd love to see Ronaldo have one last hurrah at a World Cup. Injuries and age may have slowed him down a bit, but ultimately it's the loss of hunger* for the game that has seen his career fizzle out. Honestly, the guy could still be playing for Brazil and a top european side if he was motivated. Tis a shame.

Stephen Ireland perhaps, if Ireland qualify that is.
No chance of him playing.

Yeah, probably there would be outrage in the squad if he was included. From a purely footballing point of view, we could do with him.

Def. from a football point of view. He's be great in the middle of the park.

No question paulie. He has quality in his game that Whelan and Andrews can only fucking dream of.
But Trap is right, if he doesn't help the team get there then he doesn't deserve his seat on the plane.

Why isn't he playing for you at the moment?

He's probably your best player at the moment.

Did you not remember the 'Grannygate' scandal there 2 years ago Ken?

I had my doubts whether Ireland would fit into Trappatoni's system and play in a central midfield of 2, but after the way he has started the season in a 4-4-2 has banished them all. He looks alot fitter, faster and stronger.

Trappatoni was only talking him up the other day, saying he has no one in the squad that can play behind the striker. I thought McGeady did ok there against Arsenal for Celtic a few weeks ago.

Surely you haven't missed the grandmother & hair piece incidents?

Suprised Brendan hasn't tracked down his username and password details and called him a pikey yet?

Heh, I remember... but is everyone holding a grudge against him now? What's the deal?

The best solution would be to kiss and make up, surely?
He's Marcus Trescothick mate.
He doesnt have the testicular fortitude for the long haul flights and months away and what not.

It's a bit vague whether he has been asked back directly or not. Also, Ireland himself has never come out and said 'I'm retired from International football. It seems there is too much pride at stake by now, if either side backs down they will be seen as weak. It's very childish as far as I'm concerned. And an awful shame as well. Trappatoni should have just named him in his first squad against Serbia, and seen what would happen.

While we could use Ireland in the squad, if we qualify without him there's no way he should go to the World Cup.

He's good, but we're not going to win the thing whether he turns up or not so I'd rather see the lads that got us there get their reward.

This is exactly how I feel, especially because it means Klose may break the goal-scoring record held by O Fenômeno.

I love Ronaldo.

It's the other way round Ken.

Apparently some of the players held him down in the dressing room, and tried to remove a wig/hairpiece/plugs from his gimpy head.

He felt bullied, and hasn't been back.

Sad really, because all parties lose out.

If Beckham plays, there will be no Owen. Defoe, Crouch, Heskey contributes more than Owen. Unless one of these are crocked and Owen suddenly go on a hot streak scoring spree.

Haih... I was trying to say Owen will not stand a chance with those mentioned in front of him for form.

hahaha. Shouldnt laugh, but that's so what would happen if anyone walked into a room with only their lad mates & hairplugs in.

He's quite clearly a disturbed child-man if he doesnt understand that. Pity really cos he's a very good player.
