What does it mean? Also, how many footballers at the moment are in that category, as being 'World Class'?
Everyone has their own definition but for me it the best 7/8 or so players in their position.
Means a little less than 100 world class players
Sorry but I find that a little simplistic. There maybe zero 'World Class' players in any one position at any specific time, or there maybe ten. Because we are not talking about the 'best players in their position' but about players of exceptional talent.
So you can be the best striker in the world but not 'world class'?
Isn't that a bit, er, stupid?
Well let's say they are are shite but one less shite than the others. If World Class is a definition of excellence then .. no, it's perfectly logical.
Yeah, if. But I'd argue it's not. It's a definition of superiority over the vast majority of players in the world. At least that's the definition that makes sense to me.
Messi and Ronaldo should be a level above world class, whatever that is? they deserve a bracket of their own after what they have done these last 4/5/6 years.
Simple - the players that make a distinct difference to a team just by being in that team regardless of the level of talent in that team (good/average/poor). The ones that come to mind right now are few but here they are:-
Messi
Ronaldo
Suarez
Robben
Ribbery
Bale
Falcao
No particular order of preference - and I am sure there are more - but you stick any of those players into any team and you will notice a difference and they are consistent from game to game.
Because it a forum and the words get banded about alotWhy do you need to know who's World Class and who isn't? Do you have the responsibly to sign players for us?
