Jack Wilshere: Arsenal & England midfielder suffers hairline fracture

By David Ornstein BBC Sport

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has suffered a hairline fracture to his right ankle and could be out for six to eight weeks.

The 23-year-old was injured by a heavy tackle in training on Saturday, a day before Sunday's 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Community Shield.

He will not require surgery on the small bone crack, but is expected to miss up to two months of the season.
Wilshere missed five months of last season after injuring his left ankle.

He required two operations after suffering ligament damage in November and returned for the Gunners' final six games of the campaign, including the FA Cup final success against Aston Villa.

In June he played in England's friendly draw with the Republic of Ireland and their victory over Slovenia in a European Championship qualifier.

Wilshere's career has been plagued with injury problems, particularly in his ankles.

Both ankles have required surgery since he first sustained a stress fracture in his right ankle during pre-season in 2011 and was ruled out for 15 months.

In May, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said Wilshere needed "one or two years without problems" to get his "full confidence and belief back".

This is why I never bought any of the talk of Arsenal challenging for the title. Season hasn't even started and they have players ALREADY picking up major injuries.

No matter how much they talk about being past their injury issues, I'll believe it when I see it.

The countdown clock has already begun for Walcott to do his hamstring again.

Anyone read the FourFourTwo season preview? The Arsenal fan they've interviewed for the team's preview is convinced that injuries caused by other teams kicking their players has been what's holding them back from winning the League, the fucking delusional cunt. Anyway, whilst Silver Sean is away I'll happily carry the anti-Arsenal banner. Fuck Wilshere and that entire cunt of a fucking club... the only club I want to succeed less than them is the fucking scum.

You'd prefer to see the blueslime or the Chavs win? Can't agree with that.
My hatred level goes as far as Utd,Chelsea and the bitters.
Couldn't give a shit about the rest really.
Wenger is a massive whinging prick though.

Hes a decent player but hes injured so frequently they are well use to playing without him, he only managed 14 league games last year and they finished 2nd so theyre not dependent on him by any stretch of the imagination

Leo's right. I hate United, Chelsea and the Bitters. Arsenal just irritate the fuck out of me, Wenger's a sanctimonious prick.

I pretend to like Arsenal just to annoy Silver Sean. Really I don't feel anything for them either way but it's too much fun watching him explode in a shouty bellend rage ball.

Arsenal are one of my pet hates. They always used to beat us in finals and semis in the 70's and 80's. I've got a long memory. Plus I lived in an area overrun by their fans. They wore their replica tops every day, even on nights out. Someone called them effete cunts? They were right.

I have a healthy dislike for Arsenal. It's not close to Utd though. I don't hate Everton, I just like the banter - they're like that annoying younger brother who rarely wins but when they do, you can't shut them up. They're harmless and they're family.

This is why if I owned a club I would not take him even if they paid me! The man is a liability and will now pick up full wages for not doing anything.

I can't dislike Arsenal, they had Bergkamp. He's in my top 10 players every list.

They've also had/have;

Jack Wilshere
Oliver Giroud
Laurent Koscielny
Jens Lehmann
Mezut Ozil
Haircuts
Martin Keown
Robin Van Persie
Nicklas Bentner
Sol Campbell.
