Ok so to counter the Spurs thread.
I really like Wigan. I like the chairman, I like how he trusts his managers. I like Martinez and the way he tries to play. Its a shame they havnt had the finances to keep N'zogbia and Valencia etc as its always going to be a struggle for them to survive.
I just heard a quote from James McCarthy about relegation and it was basically along the lines of:
'We're not just fighting for us, were fighting for peoples livelyhood. If we got relegated theres people here who would have to lose their jobs as we are financed as a premier league club. We fight so that doesnt happen to them, not just the players'
Thats the kind of spirit a community club should have.
I like Wigan a lot.
I wish them only the best. Except at the JJB in two weeks time.

Spot on again The Onc - both Whelan and Martinez are good for football, plus theyre a massive underdog and easy to like (although I hate Caldwell, this is mitigated by my good feelings towards the 8ft Omani between the sticks).

Dave Whelan's a gimp and their fans fucking *despise* us for some reason. Plus we never seem to beat them anymore.

Nah, don't like them.

Dave Whelan is one of the biggest cunts in football.

What on earth is to like about the Alex Ferguson rim licking twat?!?

I hope he chokes on a pie and his club gets relegated and never returns to the top flight. In fact I hope they go bust.

Ha. The forum is polarized on this issue eh?
I like Martinez. That is all.

^^^^^^^^^^^

This, can somebody dig out the quotes when he called Fergie a Magician, it was cringe worthy

No problem with Wigan, Martinez or Whelan.

I didn't like them when fathead Bruce was there though

Nah they're a dour outfit with poor fans and they play music when they score (I think).
Their fans are all Super League fans who give it a watch if they're winning and don't when the going gets tough, plus they all hate us and United purely because they're neither of us, but geographically close.
Plus they always have shit kits.

I agree with this.

Didn't Whelan buy back JJB sports just to stop Mike Ashley getting it? Admirable if he did.

It's a pretty thankless task funding a team with no supporters as they rise from the bottom of the old Div 3 (I think) all the way to the prem. He wont make any money on it, so I can only imagine he does it because he enjoys it.

I also admit to having a soft spot for Wigan. I like Martinez and his commitment to continue playing creative football whatever the club's league position. I don't agree at all that they are a dour side. I like Rodallega although he is having a run of poor form at the moment.

Whelan
Gary Caldwell
Their shit pitch
Their zero fans
The fucking JJB.
...

All cunts.

The people of Wigan clearly prefer Rugby to Football, which is why I find them undeserving of a place in the Premier League.

They used to be a lot better than they are now and even then they were play in a half empty stadium. Decent enough club, but it's in the wrong bloody place.

I don't agree with the principle "might is right." There is room in the Premier League for smaller clubs, particularly if they try to play entertaining football as Wigan do.

I can't stand Dave Whelan. He's had a few digs at us in the past hasn't he? Or maybe it was his arse licking of United?

I like Martinez though.
