We had both those teams out over the 90 minutes, it just took 80 minutes to get the second set out in full.

Still made no difference. We had 1 (or if you're generous) 2 more gilt-edged chances to score and didn't.

Utd had few chances and took 2, we had few chances and took 1; hence we lost.

Rafa has been honest about it. 100% Honest.

he dont want to change when the team plays poor, because it is difficult to get into a team performning poorly. He doesnt want to change a team that plays well. He dont want to play Aquilani when the pitch is bad.... or good... because we risk loosing games when he plays Aquilani! He hasnt had a problem with the team performance until the Pompeys game. Then he had a problem because the players who came in played well... 100% brutal honesty full of puking shit content!

How do you expect it to make a difference at that point! I'm not claiming it would be a miracle cure to make us walk over any team from 80 mins on to take the game!

At 55 mins it was already too late.

there is a little of double standands, if rafa had picked an out and out attacking team and we got mauled people would have pointed out the last three times we beat manu we had two holding midfielders.

I wouldn't. I'd have said, "fair enough, we tried to win, we needed the points, but we lost honourably".

It wouldn't have happened though. That side would have won.

But we can not say it will allways be the case... if you use two holding midfielders you will beat ManU?

On the last 3 occasions when we had our 2 holding midfielders and beat them, they didn't have theirs (Fletcher). What does that say? I don't know. But perhap it was a case of just overrunning their midfield during those games, whereas yesterday we needed to outplay them.

Also, for 2 of those 3 times, our midfield included the vastly superior Alonso rather than Lucas :'(

We should go for the jugular now in a brave attempt at sneaking fourth, try and go all out in matches against weak opposition. Instead of playing Lucas and Masch he should be playing Aquilani and Masch every game he can.

I also wouldn't play Kuyt on the right for the rest of the season (well actually, for the rest of his career but certainly for the immediate future), play him as a striker fine, but otherwise I'd like to see anybody else there out of Babel, Benayoun, Maxi and Gerrard.

Because the manager is more concerned with not losing than he is winning.

What's this bollox about fielding attacking teams against the scum leads to inevitable losses??

I bet Pep and his champions league trophy would refute that shitty myth.

I think fielding atacking teams against United when you've got a half paceless, half useless defence like we do DOES lead to inevitable losses.

because of 7 extra letters in those player's names, and benitez hasn't been given enough funds to replace his ink cartridges that regularly

He is not very good at avoid loosing is he.....

I thought a similar thing during the game. That's probably the line-up and formation Mourinho would go if at Anfield.

I've finally had enough of Rafa's defensive-mindedness.
