Whose the next to break through?

Okay, so sterling, shelvey, suso, and Wisdom have impressed and shown that they can be part of the first team. So who is next?
Personal opinion Yesil.
Please if this has been covered please merge.

Yesil has a good few months imo before he can contribute. He needs to get used to speed & physicality of the English game. I'm not sure anyone is ready yet to be an active player in the 1st 11 as the 4 you've mentioned, but I can see Robinson being a fixture on the bench if Enrique doesn't impress against Udinese.

I really think people need to be realistic about Sinclair. He only turned 16 a couple of weeks ago, and has never played for our reserves. He's a year away from playing any significant role.

If we mean the next one to play a decent amount of minutes in the league then I'd go for Yesil, if we mean who might get an appearance here and there I'd say McLaughlin or Coady.

Depends what you mean by breaking through. Flanagan has played more games in the first team than Suso. But has he broken through? If it's about making an appearance in the first team than it's probably Coady.

But if it's about longevity then there's only one player.

Someone who impressed Brendan a lot during pre season and also some of the senior players. Still only 17 years old though. (Edit turned 18 yesterday)
That kid is Ryan McLaughlin and he's a right fullback/ winger.

Maybe Stewie can finally break through to the first team.

Jesus christ, this is like the "next Messi" phenomenon, when he was 18.

The players we have seen haven't proven anything yet. If they feature somewhat consistently and we put some wins together, and they show a bit of consistency and promise, then we'll know they've arrived. They certainly are showing a level of quality that we haven't seen for a long time out of our youth, but it's telling that our need for them to be good to succeed this year is proportional to how certain we are that they've broken through.

Well, I know he's not a fan favourite, but I actually believe from what little I've seen, that Ngoo, the big, tall striker, actually could prove a rather valuable asset over time. He does remind me a bit of ol' Crouch as he does look awkward on the ball but he often seems to get his way anyways.

I wouldn't write him off just yet at least.

He'd be a good player if he could become more intelligent on the pitch.
He's got the physical attributes and skill but his decision making is piss poor.

I haven't seen much of him, but for me he doesn't have that natural striker vibe, you know, where they just know when to hit it & where to be?

He seems to take one too many touch & over think things.

Ironically, cos I hated the cunt partly for this, he could with learning from the wife beating cisse, & just hit the fucking thing at the goal occasionally, he's a big unit.

Ngoo is awkward indeed, he can surprise at times when he's able to hold on to the ball and move around nimbly with it for a man his size, but he can be quite frustrating to watch at other times too. Yesterday against Fulham (well at least for the 45 minutes in the 2nd half that I could watch) was one of his more maddening displays. He did a few good things, but most of the time was getting his feet tangled, or struggling with deciding what to do with the ball. He benefits from his height and size advantage in the U21s, and his footwork catches opponents by surprise, but I'm not sure his physical advantages will be there at senior level, be it in the Premier League or a division lower.

Just hard to see him making it. With Yesil seemingly ahead of him and Morgan in the pecking order now, perhaps we should let him go on loan to a Championship or League One side to see how he plays out.

Barring a miracle, Ngoo isn't going to make it here, particularly as long as Rodgers is manager. We're not exactly overloaded with good young strikers, but even so Yesil, Morgan, and especially young Sinclair, are all much more rounded players.

Not everyone matures and develops at the same pace. Ngoo is an unconventional player and has taken more time to settle into a good position but he's really progressed in the past year. He offers something different, and ought to represent an exciting challenge to a coach like Rodgers.

Whatever happened to that Nacho character? I thought he was going to be the next big thing.

Ibe and McLaughlin. I like Baio too but I'm not sure if he's actually that good.

I think Baio is good but not exactly close to the first team. Others in that class IMO are Brad Smith, Sama, Jack Dunn, Jordan Lussey, maybe one or two others: all realistic contenders in a year or two.
