Brilliant isnt it, the cherry on top is that we still have 10 more games to go.

Is there a similar one to show goal difference? It's fine to score less goals if you're conceding less.

I'm guessing this year will still be the best in recent times.

There's your reason. At least one of them is doing well.

They were obviously who I was getting at, but even Henderson at the time was a hundred miles off his current level. But 2 deep lyers at all times too, not great when it didn't stop us getting beat by shite like Bolton.

47 goals under Kenny, that's fucking shocking.

To be fair, he also got the team scoring 37 goals in 18 league games in the caretaker season (Hodgson managed 22 in 20 games). If he had continued with the formula that worked then, we might've had a better season in 11/12 and he might still have had a job even. Instead, we had those terrible mistakes in the off-season which compounded a bad mistake the previous January window (buying Carroll). And to pour more fuel on the fire, we had to hit the bar and/or post for fun that miserable season. Even Suarez was converting just 1 goal every 11 or 12 shots, and then we had the Evra incident to turn a bad situation even worse. It was a perfect storm.

The root cause was still the Carroll deal though. The change from a working system was an attempt to integrate Carroll. And that change brought us players who were then unable to help Suarez once we abandoned the experiment to build around Carroll.

Anyone got that JPEG of Kenny, with his strikers, and Lionel Messi just below scoring the same amount. Now it's the other way around for us, with Spurs!

Even compared to our glory days that's some goalscoring record this season. I could be wrong but I think 1979/80 was our most prolific season in my time (been watching 'em since 1970) and that was 81 goals in 42 matches so we should beat that; although we only conceded 30 goals giving a goal difference of 51.

All this season is missing is a proper drubbing, a 7, 8 or 9 nil, been convinced for the last year its only a matter of time before it happens but it still hasn't, Arsenal was a missed opportunity as was Everton, Sturridge scores the pen and it could have been anything, then again we have missed loads of real good opportunities to do it.

Maybe we are saving it for old toilet, just imagine that.

Mate we beat Spurs 5-0, away.
We did Everton by 4 at Anfield, and Arsenal 5-1 a few weeks later.

I'd certainly class them scorelines as 'drubbings'. Them 3 teams are no mugs either.

We're the highest scorers in the league to boot, says it all. Generally we've been shit hot in the final 3rd.

I've been thinking about that. Just imagine....

The main difference is confidence and tactics with Suarez, Sterling, Coutinho, Gerrard and Sturridge stepping up and producing the goods.

Lets go get that record.

What worries me about the United game is that EVERY United fan I meet is predicting that we'll humiliate them, this inevitably will mean they'll win 1-0.

I'll take 1-0 and an injury time winner. Those 3 points will be most welcome.

Same here!

It's a very odd feeling coming up to a game at Old Trafford and being regarded as the favourites. Also, can't escape the old feeling they're still going to pull it out the bag and salvage this season somehow.

Moyes will be desperate not to lose this one. I wonder how that will affect his preparations.

Yup, I originally had hoped that the Olympiakos 2nd leg game, at old trafford 3 days after we play them, might distract them but I've now convinced myself it won't.

Even Ferguson in the last few years used to have this team set up to soak and counter whenever they played us. I don't expect Moyes to be any different. Besides, he needs to keep his troops fresh for their most important game of the season three days later, so that will probably also influence him to use a more conservative system. They'll try to hurt us on set pieces so we'll have to be smart about that.

Januzaj's pace on the left is problematic, and with Evra supporting him, I hope we don't go with a midfield diamond like we did against Soton. Their midfield doesn't deserve us packing in. Back to 4-3-3 with either Sterling or Suarez ready to exploit the gap behind Smalling when he moves up, if they play like they did against Fulham - Mata started on the right in that game but was always drifting in, leaving Smalling as the overlapping RB.
