Alright so It's safe to assume that the squad is going to get a fairly substantial overhaul. Lots of people speculate that 5-6 players could be leaving. It also seems like we've been linked to everyone. On the BBC gossip page today

Mario Gotze - I've actually heard of him
Leandro Paredes - ?
Filip Kostic - ?

We've already bought Matip (Know nothing about him though)

Ousmane Dembele - ?
Fernando - Citeh dude. Know him
Tino Horn - ?
Jonas Hecter - ?

Any others I've missed? Are any of the bunch I've mentioned (apart from Gotze) any good/exciting/underwhelming? Any of them likely starters?

Cheers all 🙂

Emil Forsberg. The best player this season in the Zweite Bundesliga.

Would be fun to have a hard working Swede in the team, but I'm not sure he's good enough. He's like a worse version of Kuyt.

He would be very expensive. Red Bull own the club so they don't need the money. The second richest club in Germany after Bayern. Would probably cost around £25m so he won't be signed. We will see next season if he is good enough when Leipzig play in the Bundesliga.

Klopp clearly rates him.

We wont be signing that Forsberg lad.

I think we have a very good chance of getting Gotze.

He's got 1 year left on his contract and so far it looks like Bayern arent to keen to keep him. Still think it will be 25 mill.

Fantastic player though and a player Klopp knows very well.

I reckon it'll be a minimum of £30 mill. Despite the fact that he doesn't seem to figure in Ancelotti's plans, that won't knock the price down IMO.

I'm not saying he isn't good but I'm not persuaded he's £30 mill's worth of good, especially not when the budget will probably have to cover half a dozen players. That kind of risk is worth taking for the right signing but I've yet to be convinced he's it.

I don't see Benteke ever scoring a World Cup winner really, no.

He's probably the best player out there we have a realistic chance of actually signing.

No. What I'm comparing is the justification being offered, in some quarters anyway, for both signings. "The best we can expect to get" never did strike me as a good enough reason to sign Benteke even before he arrived, because it tells us nothing about whether the player in question is actually what we need, and I'm concerned that the signing of Gotze - who is certainly a more adept footballer - may turn out the same way.

Well there aren't many players out there that are better than Gotze.

Messi isn't really an option.

We need players that are good.

Linked to Madrid's Jese today for 20m.

I wouldn't be averse to that presuming the spine is addressed first.

And there's these...

#VfB Filip Kostic [€30m] & #TSG Kevin Volland [€18m] top Klopp's attacking summer list #LFC [Bild] twitter.com/SPORTBILD/stat…

And this fucker!

River Plate striker Lucas #Alario has been the subject of a $8M bid from #LFC, they want closer to $12M. (TyC)

For my part JJ it amuses me that I tend to adopt a rather fallacious standpoint when it comes to new signings. I'm nearly always wrong. I thought Benteke and Carroll, Ince etc would be the 'final piece in the puzzle'. I also thought Hyypia would be dross. A lesson learnt. I pay little or no attention to whomever we may or may not sign these days - Or at least until they have actually signed and then my inner fan boy, childlike, panini sticker collection 9yr old self come rushing to the surface and I get a sweet glimpse of that childlike optimism.

At the end of the day - As I always reasoned. If it all goes tits up - There is always the cricket 😉

Two more to add to the 'tinter klacker whirlpool of probable bollocks.

Filip Kostic (?)

Kevin Volland (?)

Stuttgart and Hoffenhiem respectively. This is getting silly.
