I tell you what Jono, it's like you find some information and are *SSSOOOOO* OOT excited that you wana share with the rest of SCM that you end up shoving the info in any thread going, or even starting a new one for the sake of it.

Just chill out ok, take a breath tell the missus to shut up for a minute and concentrate on finding the thread title that correlates with the info in the article!

Old saggy face is taking my Football manager tactic for the last 3 days of a transfer window. Drop a huge offer on ten strikers then at least one will sign.

They actually tend to sell their best players for massive fees. Don't they?

That and the tight control they had on their wage bill are the reasons why they have money to spend. They're also benefiting from the money the CL brings to a club.

The owners haven't funded any of the transfers themselves. They ran a very tight ship for a long time - I'm hoping Harry sinks it like he usually does.

Pretty much this.

I don't understand why people are reacting like there spending is some kind of surprise; they've been one of the best run clubs for years - I remember us talking about it back in KT days; they weren't anywhere near as successful on the field but it was obvious they were building a very solid squad for the future, buying lots of potential and selling some older players for a lot of money. They didn't seem to have a single bad deal back then - everything they did seemed a good deal. Now they're reaping the benefits of shrewd dealing with the moolah they saved.

I still think Harry is kidding himself with the "2 signings from the title" comments. They can compete with any team in the league (maybe even in Europe) but they don't have the capacity to make up 8 points or whatever it is before May.

Hopefully 'Arry will whine his way to buy two 35m players and flop, break Spur's bank just like Portsmouth and...

They did take a bit of a scattergun approach in the transfer market, but it's paid off for them. Players like Bale for 10M, Lennon for 1M, Dawson for 4M or so and so forth have proven to be brilliant business. But then, they could afford to build patiently with no real pressure. We have never had that luxury because there is always an expectancy that Liverpool will be up there challenging (even if we haven't really been very much for a long time).

My spurs mate has been saying for about 2 weeks now that they'll sign Rossi by the end of january.

30m euros apparently but they've been trying to get him cheaper or with some part-ex players thrown in.

I can't believe Rossi is still so young. I thought he was 26 or something.

He's a very good player... but I'd rather they spent 30M on him than some of the other names mentioned.

Yeah, it's an inflated price for him. I'd be more concerned if they were successful in getting Llorente/Aguero (no chance of the latter).

That said, Rossi is more of a replacement for Keane maybe?

It's Athletico, they've got form for this.

We did something similar with Dudek and Kirkland, what a cock-up that was.

A Jew told me that so it must be true.
