When did we get so old?

So Ben Woodburn scored last night, and for the first time probably I thought to myself, "Fuck, I'm getting old".

Rush - I was too young to appreciate
Fowler - He was God just after football got my full attention
Owen - Was in my secondary school years
Gerrard - Just after

Woodburn is the first player probably I've thought, shit... I couldn't be in the same team as him. Although I know I couldn't be, as I'm rubbish obviously. But I think that's the criteria for me.

Lots of posters on here are around the same age or older than me, so what I want to know is, who was the first player who burst through, which you though... Bugger me, am I getting old? And what age were you?

Too old ? It's all in your head mate ! I'm 57 and planning my solo Artic Circle Trek (not as strenuous as it sounds - 200kms in 10 days) in Greenland and there are tons of people climbing Everest that are way older than us !

You've just joined the borderline pedophile gang. Congrats.

Probably Owen for me. I was just completing my Uni degree when he burst onto the scene - I remember thinking fuck me you've not even done your GCSE's lad! I felt a tad 'over the hill' at the time. Now though I'm obviously in my prime and consider myself 'sage' rather than 'youthful' 😎

Owen and Gerrard are actually five years older than me, so Woodburn is the first to make me feel old!

Woodburn wasn't even born the last time Everton beat Liverpool at Anfield (born 19 days later), long may his record on the outside continue!

What age are you?

Two things. One actually happened this morning.
I remember watching Zidane play in the flesh and being amazed at how utterly impeccable he was. Just saw this morning than Zidane gave his own son his debut for Real Madrid and he went and scored. His own fucking son. I watched him play live and now his son is scoring. That was one.
The other one was when I turned thirty a few years back. I thought about it and nearly started crying when I realised that if I was playing Manager Mode on FIFA, I wouldn't sign me as thirty was too old.

I'm getting there, the fact that I'm older if not the same age as most of our squad is depressing me and I'm only 26!

Woodburn is 5 years younger than Sterling. Pretty crazy given that it doesn't seem very long ago that Sterling was making his debut for us as a 17 year old.

Also realised that he wasn't even born when I started supporting Liverpool. And I'm just 30.

I was explaining to my Liverpool-supporting, 24 year old Czech nephew, that the only advantage of being 53 is that I'm old enough to remember those disappointing seasons when we only won the League title and no other trophies.

Forget Woodburn, when was the last time this forum produced a prodigy of its own. Hasn't @Ijg been the youngest poster for the past decade or something?
