I have a very big choice to make this week
I have been offered an amazing contract working with one of the biggest IT service providers based 2 days down here and 3 days in cheshire.
Its great project and a 30% pay rise but....
My current contract is very easy, I work from home so drop my boy off to school ETC, never miss a school event and bath and put the kids to bed nearly every night. I rarely travel anywhere and I have an extension offer on the table.
But I have to be ambitous, cutting edge technology is being used in this new contract but the thought of staying away from home is not nice.
I would have to leave tuesday morning at 5am ish to drive to cheshire, then stay in a hotel for two nights and drive back after working on the 3rd day, probably get home around 10pm.
I would only see the kids for a few hours in the week and of course be stuck in a hotel away from the wife and my lovely house.
The extra money is of course a bonus, I would save it and pay a chunk off the house and this could lead to bigger things.
I do enjoy my current contract so I am really torn.
I could not sleep last night thinking about this, my wife will back me either way but it dreading the possibility of me not being there for the kids in the working week.
What would you do?
Has anyone worked away from the family before?
