Joe Cole has failed to make an impact at Liverpool
West Ham are ready to make an approach to take one of their old heroes, Joe Cole, back to Upton Park on loan from Liverpool.

Cole joined the Hammers as a schoolboy and made his name at the club before moving to Chelsea in 2003 when West Ham were relegated from the Premier League.

A West Ham source told ESPNsoccernet: "It's a very long shot, but we are willing to have a go."

Owners David Gold and David Sullivan were willing to pay Cole a small fortune to return to the club before he opted to join Liverpool when he left Chelsea on a free transfer in the summer. That approach six months ago was also described as a "long shot" that didn't come off.

But the Hammers are ready to have another go with Cole unable to hold down a place in the Liverpool team, and the club about to embark on a spending spree in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are determined to bring Luis Suarez to the club, with Ryan Babel prepared to go the other way, and the relinquishing of Cole's wages would further enable financial movement by the Anfield hierarchy.

As Gerry said, Ming will be here (& Wilson, Shelvey etc - though those weren't 'his' technically either).

Cole was a Purslow signing.

High wages, little resale value, shite form and injuries. FSG and Comolli will be looking to offload him.

I'd rather sell him tbh.

We need to get players off the payrole before we can bring new ones in.

Cole will be on a significent weekly wage, especially when you relate it to his contribution to the first team and I would imagine that his departure from the payrole will easily offset the wages of someone like Suarez coming in who is at present on £1.75m per annum.

By the way - at Spurs - was the worst bunch of stupid cunts I've ever heard in our end and I heard some stupid cunts. There was this one really high pitched voiced old dude who hated everything we did and enough wankers around him who'd laugh at his unfunny and annoying jibes that they got thicker and faster throughout the game. I wanted him dead. He was this little scrawny wanker, about the size of Cole's missus, grey haired with a tache and a massive massive tit. I wished I was at home watching on the tele. Especially when loads of the other nobheads started doing the Chelsea-style hiss noises when they couldn't think of any other way of dissing jews.
