He won leagues and he's idolised there. It was a much safer bet for someone with an iffy injury record

I don't take any offence to that at all.
 
Of course it's nothing to do with the tax rates in Turkey being considerably lower than in England is it? If he's only interested in trophies why did he play for nice and why is he now playing for some no mark team in Qatar? Fuck him he's been shit for years anyway.

Neither do I, but that's because neither he nor what he says is important enough to bother about. The dig at LFC was small-time and unnecessary (all he needed to do was say what you say in your first para.above) as well as stupid.

To be fair to him we don't know the question. It could have been "why didn't you fancy moving to Liverpool"

At the time, no one would have predicted we would challenge or even get near a decent final based on recent exploits.

Least in Turkey he's a club hero and won stuff.

Hanging a shirt on the wall is infinitely less impressive thing to show the kids than 4 winners medals

Nah, I'm not having that. He won La Liga, Serie A, Coppa Italia, Eredivisie.. it's not like he reached a stage of his career where he needed to win stuff to "show his kids".

Bully for him. He went from winning titles in two of the biggest leagues in Europe, to closing his career off with 4 titles in Turkey, rather than playing with the likes of Suarez etc.

If he knew how his body was, he might know he was not up to the premier league. Can hardly say that while his current employers listen and alienate the gala fans.

And playing with someone means little, unless they're the greatest, especially for someone with no affinity to the country. He played with some of the world's best at Madrid, probably didn't expect Suarez to go in that bracket because he's a bitey prick.

And also... We've been also-rans for nearly 30 years with some fleeting moments of success. Hardly Rocket science to think we wouldn't win much over the next couple of years
 
And plus, he was perma linked with united. Probably fucking hated us to try and gain favour with them

He's right in terms of us winning f*ck all and he'd already played in some of the biggest leagues and best sides.

Who cares.

Turkey is a big draw in terms of weather and lifestyle.

He may or may not have made a difference here but I've issue with him stating the fact he hasn't regretted it.
