Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish ran the rule over Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre on Sunday.

The Honduran has attracted interest from Aston Villa and Manchester United but Liverpool desperately want to resolve what has become a problem position and are keen on the 24-year-old.

He has had an impressive first season at Celtic since signing from Motagua in the summer and put in another good performance in the convincing 3-0 win over Rangers.

Celtic would want around £4.5million for Izaguirre who has 44 international caps.

Liverpool are likely to sell Paul Konchesky who is on loan at Nottingham Forest while Fabio Aurelio is only on a short term contract.

Liverpool's Damien Comolli watched Ipswich striker Connor Wickham again on Saturday against Hull City although Tottenham scouts were also in attendance.

who plays LWB for Celtic. Never seen him play cos i dont watch the SPL cos it's the SPL and it's SHIT. Anyone seen him play? Is he boss? Or is he shit? I know he's a professional togger player but still, sometimes the pro's are shit like maxi or Baldy Pauldy Kuntchesky.

Seen him play probably six times and he's been impressive everytime, has a great engine and can put in a great cross. United supposedly interested in him as well.

Celtic also have an Israeli midfielder by the name of Kayal everytime i've seen him play he's been very impressive, great in the tackle and rarely gives it away. LTW would probably no more about him but defo someone to keep an eye on.

Yep I would agree with this. Both players have been very impressive, but then again you have to factor in that it's the Scottish league and would they be as impressive in the Premier League.

Biram Kayal signed for Celtic last year I think from Macabbi Haifa - he's a decent CM, passes well and tough in the tackle. He lacks discipline at time but is a very good prospect (linked to Manure last week).

Would agree with all you've said there. Two good players

Wow we're all in agreement then because I've been hugely impressed with Kayal this season. Izaguirre looks decent and he likes to get forward as witnessed yesterday, the ball he put in for Hooper's second goal was superb.

Celtic are beginning to look like a really good team and in Hooper, Commons, Kayal, Izaguirre, Masjtorovic, Stokes etc they potentially have their best team in a decade.

Joe Ledley drew favourable comparisons between Celtic team-mate Emilio Izaguirre and Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

The Hoops' Honduran left-back has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool after a string of impressive performances this season.

Bale, whose form this season before he suffered a back injury saw him hailed as one of the best players in Europe, plays alongside Ledley in the Wales team and the Celtic midfielder has no hesitation in making the comparison.

"They are similar," said the former Cardiff player.

"I have played with both of them and both have qualities.

"Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world at the moment.

"Emilio is quick, good on the ball, has composure and has a good cross in him.

"It's great to have him at the club and hopefully we can keep him."

Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre has scooped the 2010/11 PFA Scotland Player of the Year award with Dundee United’s David Goodwillie collecting the Young Player of the Year award.

The players were awarded with their prizes – which are based on votes from their fellow pros - at a ceremony in Glasgow this evening.

Honduran left back Izaguirre only joined Celtic from homeland side Motagua in July 2010 and was one of manager Neil Lennon’s first signings for the club.

The 24-year old has wowed Scottish football fans this year with some sterling performances and – despite only spending a year with the club – has already attracted admiring glances from some of Europe’s top clubs.

He now becomes the tenth foreigner to clinch the prestigious award and the first South American to win it. Izaguirre beat off competition from team-mate Gary Hooper, Kilmarnock’s Alexei Eremenko and Rangers star Steven Naismith.

Kayal's not bad; lovely touch, good composure, and can pick a pass. But everytime I've watched him (which is quite a few times now) he's never done anything more significant than 'fairly good' or 'tidy'.

He's a really ncie footballer no doubt, but there are thousands out there just like him.

Anyway, Izaguirre...
Yep, good left-back. Gets forward, very good on the ball, and can crunch into a tackle. Surprisingly quick too. A few concerns though - he dives every 5 seconds which is unbelievably frustrating, he picks up some needless bookings, and most importantly - he's playing in Scotland right now so it's bloody hard to judge him properly.

That's what I think ... but Pesam and quite a few other Scottish mates of mine are acting as if he may be much much more than that ... Oh well, time will tell.

More importantly

David Goodwillie....

Hahahaha

He was brilliant in the derby.

Looks a real quality player and would from what I've seen I'd be happy to see him here.

Cliche ? I think he's been overused to the point he's lost his original meaning and effect.

Get.Out.

Emilio Izaguirre has added another two trophies to his collection with the Celtic Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

The much-admired Honduran defender – who has already lifted the SPFA and Clydesdale Bank prizes
– thanked the club for welcoming him “as a brother†and reiterated how happy he is to be furthering his career at Parkhead.

The 24-year-old got a huge ovation when he added he would not swap all his personal awards for the SPL title – because he reckons it can all still come his way.

James Forrest won the Young Player award, while Scott Brown’s strike in the 2-2 Scottish Cup draw at Ibrox was voted Goal of the Season.
