Well done Rodgers

We will have to play much better football and become far more clinical to go much further in this competition. I'm made up we topped the group though.

Yup

Hopefully support for suarez and borini coming back will improve us

I too get exactly where you are coming from as well Macca.
While I don't wholly disagree with what you are saying I think you are over stating the case a tad though.

Fair enough, I just don't see it helps the perception of Rodgers as manager to treat him differently. We treated it is business as usual when Rafa's team qualified for the next stage of the CL, that's the right way. If Rodgers gets to a final then I'll be the first to say well done, but let's give him the respect any other LIverpool manager - apart from Hodgson - has received by expecting him to meet our standards, not the other way round.

Do we have standards any more Macca? I think we've slipped so far that the goalposts have changed a little.

Also, Rodgers is young and not wholly tried and tested. Its like when you encourage the unproven kid on the field more than the team's star - because you know if this kid turns out to be the business it will be the better for everybody.

Of course Rodgers is not (I hope) looking to this site to boost his ego, but I think that's why he gets a little extra praise in some quarters. If he turns out to be the real thing then we will all be happy. We've reached the state of desperate hope rather than comfortable expectation.

I still want to fight against that, even though I fear you're right. I think Rodgers needs patience, yes, and encouragement, but not over-eager indulgence. Yes, I can see why some practically urged a three line whip to start singing his name, but I'm sure he'd rather feel he'd earned that. I mean, we can't have it both ways - when he was quoted saying doing better than sixth would be 'fantastic,' plenty jumped on that - yet then he gets special praise for struggling through this stage of the Europa League. I'm not trying to wind anyone up, I just think we need to rein it in a bit.

Definitely agree with the first bit there mersey

Macca, under rafa we were a force to reckon with, with some of the best players on the globe, group stages should be a formality.

Now, we have 1 world class player and a reasonable supporting cast of youth, shite and solid quality.

I'm happy to top the group, it was unexpected

Fair enough macca

And tbh, I'd take 6th,it would be fantastic, considering we would have had 1 fit striker for half a season
