We had a wrestling thread a while back, but this deserves its own

humiliated cena. praised austin. 20 minutes seemed to fly by. then he left

He's also the best at doing funny voices to impersonate people.

"you can't see me".

I won't quote it as I can't remember it properly and won't do it justice, but the Stevie Wonder comment was quality.

He is the best at mic work ever. Not a shadow of a doubt in my mind.
Im really chuffed he is back

In one single promo he showed how much better he is than the rest.

Is he back back? or just a one time thing?

He's the 'guest host' for Wrestlemania. He wont be back, he's earning too much making movies.

I dont think he can cut it as a full time talent, but maybe he does promo work and wrestles at main events. Either way its fucking ace.

He's only back now that Shawn Michaels isn't there to kick his teeth down his throat anymore.

Great seeing him back, though.

He has an oddly shaped head.

yah i used to love him, and stone cold ... those were the days ... and mankind!
For me that was wrestling best era.
You had the ministry (Undertaker, Gangrel, Christian, Edge, Viscera, The Acolytes)
The Corporation (Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, Shawn Michaels; Wrestlers: The Rock, Triple H, The Big Boss Man, The Big Show, Kane, Mankind, Ken Shamrock, Test, Chyna)
Some amazing tag teams (Brood, Hardys, New age outlaws) and just a whole bunch of top class stars
The Rock, Undertaker, Stone Cold, Mankind, Jericho, Angle, HHH etc
The promos were better, the character builds were better, the rivalries were better, the match differences were better, the introductions of new characters were better (notably guerrero, benoit, Y2J)
It was a fucking brilliant era in wrestling.
There was a difinitive class, you had the top stars who fought for the belts but the likes of Val Venis, xpac, the godfather etc were all great support stars, the hardcore belt was fun with the underrated Al snow and Hardcore bob Holly.
The intercontinental belt was a BIG deal and its holders were almost always the best matt wrestlers.

As long as John Cena is the face of WWE I'll never go back to watching. Unfortunately he means too much in terms of merchandise sales, to kids of course, and that's always going to matter most.

On that video there, there was a kid actually booing The Rock and giving him a thumbs down because he made a show out of Cena. If only these kids saw what we had 10+ years ago.
It deteriorated when it became PG instead of rated R.
Tits, barbed wire, flaming turnbuckles, people getting thrown into the pontomac, kidnapping, sexual assaults, brainwashing, bar brawls, and uber uber violence.
It was the best soap ever. Now its a merchandising plaything. Hopefully this is a step back in time to when it was a great fucking exciting product.
Basically the Stone cold era. It shed all the stupid cartoonishness of the Ultimate warrior/sargeant slaughter era and was pre-the gay arsed pissweak kids show we have today.
God it was fucking awesome.

Remember when MAE YOUNG got her tits out!!!? Jesus Christ I nearly threw up.

The Kat got hers out though, which was better.

I'm hoping it's a cycle, it has to go back to being for the kids so it can break out of the mould and be raunchy and cutting edge again. Fact is, though, I can't see there ever being such a huge wealth of talent in one era ever again. The industry's starved now, and any talent that's there (to my knowledge anyway) is old timers that were around 10-15 years ago anyway.

Kat got sacked for that which led to her hubby Jerry lawler going on strike.
They got fined loads for it.
It was one of the finest moments in wwe history for me. You knew she was about to do it but when she did it was brilliant.
Good old Kat.

Yeah, the late 90's were a fucking brilliant time for wrestling. The characters were great, the storylines were edgy, it was violent, and you had some of the best of all time. The matches were probably on a par with today's, but matches are instantly better if the characters are better and the crowd is more into it. The shift to PG ratings coincided with Linda McMahon's attempt at running for Senate in the US. Now that it's over, maybe they might change again, especially since the kids that they are aiming the product at will grow up and become bored of the same old shit.

I vowed never to watch again when Mae Young gave birth to a hand. A fucking hand.

Watched his promo today. Absolutely brilliant. He made John Cena look like a chump.

Am I missing something? It's scripted! Just men in leotards doing elaborate pantomime. What's to get excited about?

I was obsessed with WWE when the Rock was in his prime.

Myself and about 15 college mates used to play Smackdown on the PES 2 til all hours.

Everyone created their own alter ego in the game and ladders, tables and chairs matches ensued.

Defiantely one of the best multiplayer games around at the time. Especially the tag team matches.

Nothing beats performing a rock bottom on your house mate on the virtual felt (well except doing it in real life which often happened in those days too). I was friends with some pretty obsessed WWE fans.

One of which went onto to become Irish Judo champion using a quiet a few moves he learnt of WWE.

He's now training for UFC an has competed in a few ameture matches.

The Rock had a superb video on youtube about 5 years ago but it got taken down.

It contained all his quotes and best moments. Delighted he's back. Hasn't been the same without him.
