Liverpool would like to advise all supporters that a limited number of tickets and matchday hospitality packages are still available for this weekend's Barclays Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion.

With a limited number of tickets still on sale (including Adult/Child), don't miss out on your chance to support the Reds at Anfield on Sunday.

To book call the Ticket Office now on 0843 170 5555 or visit the Ticket Office at Anfield in person.

Alternatively, if you want to enjoy the match after sampling some first-class Liverpool FC matchday hospitalty then simply click here or call the corporate sales team on 0151 263 9199 for more information.

Do our home games sell out nowadays? I thought irrespective of the opposition, normally games at the beginning of the season are sold out. Is this common?

Usually we sell out on home games, even against the crap, but I for one wouldn't pay the better part of £80 to watch us struggle against the brom with a Lucas/Poulsen midfield, so I can easily understand there being tickets left.

This is a inevitable result of the the ticket price being hiked up 17% and the quality of the first team being significantly reduced.

I usually go to 8-10 games a year, and I know I won't hit that this season. I'm sure the same goes for a lot of people. If I know we're going to be shite, I'd rather watch us for free and spend £40 elsewhere, on things which make me happy.

And the lack of a larger stadium is holding the club back.

At this point it's becoming a chicken and the egg scenario. Build a new stadium and we'll have funds to create a winning team. Win some trophies to generate the funds to build a new stadium.

This is what happened to the NHL ice hockey team in my city. Unfortunately we didn't just become irrelevant. We were relocated to Arizona.

talk about a knee-jerk reaction. one home game, against lowly opposition, after price rises, in the midst of the great malaise our club is suffering, with people still concerned about economic conditions, and no indication of the actual number of unsold tickets or whether he game will eventually sell out, and suddenly we've become too small a club for the proposed new stadium.

Just wait till e spend all the money on the new stadium, giving Poulsen and Lucas a brand new playground 🙂 Then we are talking!!!!

I doubt that; it's probably a combination of high prices and shit football.

This and nobheads who never go the game.

Man U albeit in a much larger stadium, are struggling to sell out games as well for the first time in a long time.
Sign of the times?

Bit of an over reaction on your part, Peter.

It's cos I'm going the game for the first time in fucking ages. Everyone else is staying away.

We might be sitting together!!!

one thing is for sure it will be interesting to see how Roy's reds cope against "park the bus" teams who will look to defend at Anfield, Rafa always struggled with them

We need a high scoring win and Nando to score especially

We need to win. By how many and who scores doesn't really matter.

£40 for West Brom is just stupid!!
[/quote]

I personally think £30 for this kind of game would take the piss, but yep an absolute disgrace. Part of me hopes it becomes a semi-recurring theme not selling out, maybe it will make some prick in charge realise that they're taking the piss with the prices, especially since we're still a fucking recession.

Oh, and it was the uefa cup last year that did it for me. Dumped out of the european cup into a second rate one so they dropped the prices by £1.

We're not in a recession.

not technically, but in reality people still feel very vulnerable, especially given the fragility of the recovery.

And lack of a pay rise in most cases, whilst the cost of living goes up.

So technically losing money every month.

Agreed there. I think we'll be more fluid in attack in the long run under Hodgson, but at the present we don't have the players or the confidence to be smashing teams out our way.

We need to sign some creativity.

Actually having just seen (didn't know they were out) the latest GDP figures it would seem you're right, we're not (technically), but given our £2.24 Trillion national debt, higher unemployment than in the 80s and still having a ridiculously weak pound, it's as bad as being in one.
