Visiting Liverpool for 2 matches this month ... advice

Hello - A Liverpool fan from the states. Will be in town for the Arsenal and Porto matches. Traveling solo and Just looking for advice on best places to gather pre-game...best way to get to the stadium (and more importantly back to the centre city)... and anything else. Not my 1st time to Anfield but 1st time solo. Thanks.
