One year left on his contract and stalling on signing a new one - saying the chance of winning trophies is more important to him than winning things (reportedly).

Would probably cost 15-20m and would provide ample back-up for Gerrard/Torres and could probably do a decent job right/left of Torres too.

Shouldn't we be enquiring after him?

paying an arrogant cunt to be injured is a bad idea.

he should stay at arsenal and count himself lucky to be there IMO.

Heh, scathing!

I think Van Persie is an excellent player and would be a very good addition. But not at that price.

not exactly scathing though.... he is a relatively young player of occasional brilliance and regular injuries, he is already at a very big well run club but is content to give the impression he is in some way or other too good for them.

fuck him he is a greedy sicknote.

He would be perfect for our system.

He's fucking quality of the highest order. His goal against us at the emirates last season was technique of the highest order.

I'd absolutely love to have him, but there's zero chance of him playing for us next season.

He is, i grant you, a class player... he is NOT a team player, he like many of his teammates is a total twat in fact and he is made of fucking glass, the kind of glass they use in phone booths.

But bollox lets get Drogba and get Robben as well while were at it... blimey.

this is a silly thread, i reckon almost as silly as the villa thread in fact.

silly season.

He's very good when at his best but he's also very very poor when he's poor.

He simply lacks consistency to be deemed 'quality of the highest order' in my opinion. He almost didn't manage to outscore everyone's favourite Bender last Season although he played more regularly. Hardly impressive eh.

Why is it silly Molby?

We need a not-too-expensive option for the left/back-up for Torres and Gerrard. Van Persie is prem-proven, 26, very gifted, and has one year left on his contract with no indication that he'll rush to sign another. Arsenal are going to have to make a decision on him soon or risk losing him for free in a years time whilst looking after himself this season. He'd only likely go to a top 4 side and as much as Arsenal would be loathe to sell him to us, an inflated fee (given his contract status) 0f 15m or so might be enough to get him.

It's transfer season and this is a football forum. Posters might just suggest a few players who might be suitable targets.

I'm trying not to mate - where's the lies you reckon?

Van Persie
11 Premiership goals in 24 starts.

Bendtner
9 Premiership goals in 17 starts.

The latter has been subbed quite a lot more but has more than often played as a winger too.

*Cool site btw.

You never seen it before?

It's great for stats. The game log is pretty good too.

I said it a while back Van Persie would be brilliant in our formation if he stayed fit.
He wouldnt cost 20million as he is in the least year of the contract and stalling closer to 12-15, which I would be happy with

I'm not to excited to be honest as Van Persie is not particular capable of playing on the wings.

Or at least Wenger doesn't seem to think so - he's always playing him behind the striker or as the main striker and only very rarely on the wing. He's not a workhorse in anyway and we'd be rather exposed on the left with him outthere.

There are better options outthere. NEXT!

Thinking back, I remember Wenger speaking that he'd have no problem selling his players to top clubs - speaking in reference to Chelsea's interest in Adebayor should Drogba leave.

As for Van Persie, I would love him here - he's a extremely talented player and I could see him combining well with Torres and Gerrard.

I reckon he'll stay put, he'll know Arsenal will improve next year and they're not *that* far off having a title challenging team, but his patience with Wenger and his philosophies may well be running out...

I think they're as far off as they've been in the last few years. Wenger's hands appear tied in the transfer market.

Injuries made last season a right off for them, but lets not forget it wasn't all that long ago they were top of the league till Jan/Feb.

They won't be seriously challenging next year but I reckon they'll considerably improve.

I'm not writing Arsenal off just yet.

With Arshavin in the squad for the whole Season and a lot of the youngsters getting older and more experienced they could be turning out quite well.

Arshavin, Persie, Cesc, Nasri, Bendtner, Adebayor, Eduardo, Rosicky, Walcott, Toure, Sagna and Clichy are a talented bunch so with a few additions in defense and central midfield they'd suddenly look very capable of a challenge in my opinion.

Most probably not, but thought him worth a mention.

Who do you think he will sign for then?

Which is what most people have said.

Screw RVP. I'd rather we signed his Dutch compatriot Huntelar. You guys think he will part of the Real clearout?
