Can't they just fucking celebrate and sing their own songs??

From SSN re them winning their 18th league title, some United blert says:

The basic fact (no pun intended) behind Uniteds success in the last 20 years is down to two things: 1) Thanks to Sky there has been a far more expansive coverage of live football. i.e football had to become more honest. For years it was an anybody but United league, where teams would lie down against Liverpool, just as long as United didn't win it. They couldn't do that with more expansive coverage of games. Back in those days there was only United who gave them a game 2) Has anybody noticed the marked decline in Liverpools success since the back pass rule was introduced, typical commentary on a Liverpool game 80's 'Hansen Lawrenson Grobelaar', 70's'Thompson, Hansen, Clemence' Keep it simple, Keep it boring more like. Suppose thats the difference where popularity is concerned. Have you ever noticed the hype about this supposed 73,000 seater stadium that never gets built. Shall I give you the real reason, they are too scared of it being three quarters full, because lets be honest they only just about fill Anfield. And then they would have to concede that United are far more popular, god forbid. Mind you there hasn't been much conceding this week has there, wheres Thommo this week, wheres Kennykins this week, oh yes desert a sinking ship Kenny eh, never off the telly in the 70's and 80's with his witticisms all directed at Man U. When the going gets tough, Kenny gets going eh, like when he deserted his beloved Liverpool on the eve of United domination, what was it at Blackburn, became director of football, on both occasions relieving himself the indignity of having to congratulate United. Its all about class to me, and it shows when do you ever have United players on telly winding rivals up, their better than that, Fergie makes it that way.

That's just too stupid for words.

Esp the part about our attendance, Christ, our season ticket waiting list is still 10 years plus.

United's success is down to a once in a lifetime youth team and the money they earned off the back of them.

It's amazing to see how focused some of them are on us.

To be fair, that's just one ignorant supporter.

Imagine some United fan strolled onto this site one day, picked up one of Dreamy's posts and stuck it on RedCafe. It'd be exactly the same.

We were doing pretty well even before the "class of '92" broke into the first team (You don't win anything with kids; Hansen, 1995).

Their success is almost competely down to Ferguson
[/quote]

Their success is almost completely down to money. Im not criticising them for that, I fact I have to compliment them for that.

But there is no denying the facts

It is if you ignore the fact they were winning the league, the FA Cup, and in Europe before any of those youngsters came along.

Come on Ryan - Look at the success that class of '92 bought them ... Phenomenal. If you compare the 10 years before '92 and 10 years after, it's amazing how much success they amassed when those 'kids' came in.

Best team in Britain for a few years before the class of 1992? Are you sure?

Prior to the 'kids' they were not even close to being the best team in Britain, no league title since 1967. Actually between 1984 and 1991 they won a grand total of 2 FA Cups (1985 and 1990) and a Charity Shield that they shared with Liverpool in 1990. That was it domestically, so how can you say they were the best team in Britain for years before 1992?

In 1986–87 they finished 11th,
1987–88 they finished 2nd,
1988–89 they finished 11th,
1989–90 they finished 13th,
1990–91 they finished 6th.

That's not the sort of form that would substantiate the "best team in Britain for years" claim.

After the kids came in, success followed.

"The kids" - We're obviously talking about Beckham, Scholes, Butt, and The Nevilles - only really broke into the side during the 95/96 season. Giggs was obviously in the side before that time, but you could hardly call his inclusion in the side alone as that of 'going with youth'.

They won the League in 92/93 and 93/94 on the back of Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister, Iriwn, Parker, Ince, Keane, Robson, Hughes, Kanchelskis, etc etc. None of the famed kids were anywhere to be seen.

In fact the year later that they lost the title at Upton Park, Beckham and Scholes were sitting on the bench wearing United Suits. They weren't even in the fucking squad.

It was only the beginning of the 95/96 season that Ferguson went with the young players, prompting Alan Hansen's famous comment. By that stage though, they'd won the title twice in the previous 3 years, losing out by 1 point in the year that Blackburn managed to win, had won the FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup Winners Cup, and done a double - All before the kids were introduced.

Game, Set, and Match.

The 1993 Scum team is probably the best ever Scum team I've ever seen.
