quite a few 'upsets' here:

Lille 1 - 1 Valencia
Rapid Vienna 3 - 0 Hamburger SV
Hapoel Tel Aviv 2 - 1 Celtic
Basel 2 - 0 AS Roma

Everton are up 3-0 already against AEK ... Nemeth is on the bench.

I watched the HTA-Celtic game.

Absolute fucking shit it was too.

Me too ... Now I'm not the 'biggest' fan of Scottish football, but it seems to be that this is the weakest Celtic team I've ever seen. THey used to have some talented players but bar Boruc, there's not many players there that are of a high enough standard to compete in Europe ... Are Rangers in such a state too?

Any thoughts about the Israeli lads on HaPoel? I

Ha, Boruc is fucking woeful too.

Celtic are actually on the improve (playing-wise) as far as I'm concerned. They've looked quite bright and interesting under Mowbray, and certainly more attractive on the eye. He's also bought one or two nice additions in the summer, espeically in the midfield. He's still got that bag of fucking glue Samaras up front though, so they're never really gonna trouble Europe's elite.

Much like Rangers.

I watched the game in a half-asleep daze mate so can't really recall any HTA players standing out. they looked devoid of leadership and experience though - there were times at 1-0 down when they were camped on the edge of the box with Celtic easily knocking the ball about in front of them.

They won, and fair play to them for that, but they won't go very far.

Looked like a good atmosphere mind.

atmosphere in these games are generally great ... brings in a lot of 'neutral' Israeli fans (like my Scottish mates here all went!).

Oh well, the one player who stood out for me in the 2nd half from TA was Gil Vermut - he assisted on the game winner. He's very talented on the ball. I think he could yet again make the jump to a 'smaller' European league (He left Belgium after 1/2 a year .. I didn't settle it seems)

I didn't bother watching the entire game, but from the little I did watch (as well as from watching Hapoel in other games this season) they're no a bad side. Vermut is a promising player, Yadin is a useful player, the new Serb guy looks dangerous and once Yeboa cleans his head he'll be very dangerous again.
Atmosphere for Hapoel home game is very good as they probably have the best set of supporters in Israel (as far as backing the team is concerned) and I think both Hamburg and the Austrians will not find it easy playing Hapoel at Bloomfield. They just might surprise everybody and make it to the next stage.
