EL semis
United vs Celta Vigo
Ajax vs. Lyon

I'd have prefered United to face Lyon but hopefully Celta can do them. It's a very weak EL this season, nothing like ours a couple back.

CL semis
Real vs. Atletico
Juve vs. Monaco (boo - the only team I didn't want Monaco to face).

From a Real fan on Celta : They are the epitome of giant killers, so dangerous on the counter attack, you can score against them but take them lightly they can score on you just as easily. They have blinding pace on the flanks and through the middle. Anyone slow will be a liability. Beat Real over 2 legs and Barca at home.

I'd have much preferred United to go out. The closer they get to the final, the closer they are to winning it, and that simply cannot be allowed.
That would mean two trophies in Mourinho's first season, a place in the CL and a more successful season than Liverpool.

Fuck that. Out and out as soon as fucking possible.

I've separated this from the match thread for the Uefa Quarter finals.

Can someone else show Frogfish where the new thread button is ?

This year's EL is fucking weak sauce. I guess the silver lining is that Celta will likely focus their all their energy on this competition as they're safe in the league now and probably a bit too far off to have a chance to finish in the top six.

Oh wait... this is actually quite pleasing:
May 5 - Celta vs Man Utd
May 7 - Arsenal vs Man Utd
May 12 - Man Utd vs Celta
May 14 - Spurs vs Man Utd

The Moaninhometer is going to be rocking off the scales those two weeks if/when things don't go his way.

If got were a Man u fan, would you prefer to win the Europa League and qualify for next season's Champions League that way, or finish fourth and deny one of your rivals entry into the competition.

I'd prefer to win the Europa League and the Carling Cup, because that's two trophies and also CL qualification.

The bonus of stopping a rival play in the CL by finishing above them is nice, but trophies are nicer.

They'll be moved to Sunday

To confirm, If Utd win (shudder) The team who take the 4th place spot in the league lose out their space in the CL to Manu?

Would be nice is Aspas helps knock them out with his goals.

They managed beat Barcelona 4-3 in the league and knocked Real Madrid out of Copa del Rey with 4-3 aggregate score - clearly have goals in them (although their defence is obviously not the tightest).

No. That is not correct. If United fail to finish in the Top 4 but win the EL then there would be 5 PL teams in the CL next season.

Both qualify for CL however United go directly to the group stages where as we have to play a qualifier first.

What if UEFA find Atleti fielded an ineligible player, reinstate Leicester to the CL and they go on to win it and scum win Europa, we come 4th and Zlatan fails to wake up from anaesthetic.... What then?

It's made a little more confusing with this Sakho business. If Atletico are pulled on the ineligible player, Leicester will have to go into a playoff with us for the semi final spot. It's because we would have won the Europa league last year if that guy who's name I can't spell had played.

The trophies every day of the week. For some reason, we seem to have lost this message.
