Do you remember that old myth that has always gone round? That one often sparked by either Gerrard and Lampard or Gerrard and Alonso, the old myth that you can't have two central midfielders who can play football? You have to have one who destroys football and one who plays beautiful football. Well step up Lucas and Adam.

I know we don't need another thread about them, but it's such a joy watching two players in the centre who really know how to use to ball. My fear at the beginning of the season was that there wasn't enough fight in them to dominate the midfield, however they both boss the midfield, Adam has a good tackle of him and Lucas has become a defensive master.

There use of the ball and ability to pass is just beautiful. Lucas' passing has gone up four notches this season and Adam has always had an eye for the pass, and because of them two we're playing some breathtaking football, some of the best in the league.

So I consider that particular myth abolished.
 
They seem to have learnt the best part of their games off each other and have morphed into better footballers. Lucas is a lot less restricted now and Adam has obviously worked his socks off getting into shape and improving the defensive side of his game.

And FWIW, I don't think the 'myth' you speak of ever really existed.
 
I think loads of people saw this as our major weakness, and there are plenty that would still say that we could never win the title with these guys in the middle. I disagree. I think we have an excellent platform in the middle now, and can focus on other areas (attacking players). I think as Henderson develops and with Spearing I think we have able cover too.

About 4 years ago everyone always used to go on about it.

They have both been playing very well and full credit to the pair of them.

I personally won't be slagging off Wonderman again any time soon, but i'm still to be convinced that our CM is the real deal just yet (with regards to winning titles at least).
 
Have to agree. I'm willing to be convinced if they continue to improve at the rate they're progressing, but IMO we need more from them going forward - Lucas in particular is still no real threat doing so, massively though his game has improved overall.
