Am I the only one who thinks that LFC has become even more close guarded about matters relating to transfers?
The previous years we knew few weeks beforehand as to who they're sniffing round more and it will be players from anything from £7m to £20m plus. Now we're looking at players below £10m. Ofcourse we don't know this for sure. In truth we are not very sure who'll we'll go fo and what the budget is. There is a positive to this 'cloak and dagger' dealings, it means we don't face an auction when it comes to bidding for a player.

I bet we'll hear about all our new signings weeks before the deals are done.

Nearly every selling club gob off in order to try to raise the fee.

Oh i agree mate.

I just don't think it will make any difference in regards to the price we land a player for.

Thank you very much! Not one for grand entrances so it's hardly a landmark first post, ah well!

Well one theory is no-one else has a clue who our targets are..... because we don't have a clue either.

I don't think it really matters.... are we worried about starting a bidding war on our targets... if only we'd be outbid on some of our previous signings... we may have pre-empted a bidding war by offering vastly inflated prices in past (thanks Damo).

We're just generally shite in the transfer market... regardless of CE, Manager, DoF, Chief Scout, Manager - we're too nice.. we need to act likes cunts a lot more.

I think we have to be very frugal in coming windows, after the Commolli splurges I think the owners are once bitten twice shy. Sensible buys like Gylfi for £7 million could is obviously a better signing that say Henderson for £20 million. I think that we need a new policy in which we make the logical signings rather than the exciting ones.

We will have another summer where people will talk of smokescreens (e.g. Downing/Crouch) for our ***real**** Targets (e.g, Mata) and we will no doubt sign our smokescreens

Things have changed over the last five years ever since the club was sold did away with a massive board of directors and major shareholders who could not hold their own water and liked to show they were all in-the-know. Like wise all the local hacks who leached off these blabbers have found it hard to get anything out of the club and have moved on. The Hicks Gillett era were also not water tight, better but there were still moles.
It seems that the Henry Werner regime is very frugal with information.
This is good, the only trouble is the press and everyone else then have to make everything up, people get impatient in this 24 hour news, and information overloaded world and rather than accepting it's probably the way things should be done, get impatient and irritated and they see it as nothing is being done.
I like a bit of gossip as much as the next man, but we have to accept we might have to feed on scraps these days

If it becomes a consistent method, then maybe it just proves the theory that not many big name players want to come here. Not that I'm saying the idea of buying overpriced English players is right either, but if we don't sign anyone who immediately stands out as a marquee transfer, then perhaps it's just a sign of the times, given it's an outcome we've seen more or less for the last 5 years or so.

No doubt the usual posters will blame the manager from the off though.

So long as it's 'buy better players' I don't really give a fuck if we put the word out on sandwich boards.

Quite. People won't be happy either way though. If they don't hear anything then we don't know what we're doing and if they hear everything then we're being amateurs.

We need to just spend alot more wisely and for once, just once, sign players in the positions that we need to fill.

I'd love to say something cheerful and positive but it just doesn't feel right.

Completely agree.
