Trains/transport from Bristol to London

I'm booking a DJ/producer from Bristol in Slovenia in the spring and I'd like to make the travel arrangements for him as soon as possible. The Bristol airport unfortunately looks useless as we're dealing with a limited budget for transport, so the only option seems to be flying him over from Stansted airport.
I've never been to London or Bristol so I don't really know what's the best way for internal travel or which trains and stations should I be looking at. Could anyone help me with this, or simply, what's the best/easiest inexpensive way to get from Bristol to Stansted airport?
