Adebayors injury looked bad. Dembele will probably walk it off and return next week..

Both Dembele and Adebayor will both be fit for Sunday apparently, typical.
Im glad as we will see how good our team really is and how much we've improved this season. They can't use them missing as an excuse if we win and nor can the press. spurs are in form and on fire at the moment and so are we. Its Bale vs Suarez.

Yep, we're going to lose, and it's going to be another sucker like earlier on in the season. With Tottenhams knack of scoring when they're under the cosh and our habit of losing when we're by far the superior team, I can only see one outcome.

The spurs game will be a HUGE test for us. I can see both teams scoring twice definitely. It will down to the team that holds their nerve the best to nick it 3-2. Spurs with their high line will get rump wrangled by sturridge and suarez, but our poor defence with its stupid system of always passing from the back regardless of the pressure will always conceede goals.

I'm excited. I think we're going to fucking do them.

Ok so Sturridge will be back for this one, who's out?
Coutinho or the one I can't mention?

Good question. I would take a risk and start Coutinho in place of the one you can't mention. Unfair to Stu, who is in top form and scored in the last game. But Coutinho has 1 goals and 3 assists in last 2 games, that speaks for itself.

Another possibility is playing 4-2-3-1 with Coutinho in the middle and Suarez on the left. EDIT: No, I think it's probably better the other way around. Suarez in the middle and Coutinho on the left. But then Gerrard and Lucas will really need to step it up to win the midfield battle vs Parker and Dembele.

If he sticks with 4-3-3, then then Rodgers must decide between Allen and Henderson.

Since the Spurs' main attacking threat in on both wings, it's probably better to keep Stu and Coutinho on the wings rather than Suarez or Sturridge who need to be making life miserable for Dawson and Verthongen, not chasing after Bale. So after thinking a bit more about this, I would indeed switch to 4-2-3-1, in effect sacrificing Allen or Henderson for Sturridge. Against Spurs it's more important to contain them on the flanks than to win a central midfield battle. Arsenal learned this the hard way yesterday.

--------------Sturridge-----------
Coutinho---Suarez---Downing
----------Lucas----Gerrard------
Enrique-----------------Johnson
---------Agger-------Carra-------
----------------Reina---------------

I'd drop coutinho and play downing. Downing offers cover for johnson when he bombs forward and gives us plenty of width as well as being better defensively. Also drop allen for hendo.

Coutinho is quick and willing to track back. Like I said, I would keep both Downing and Coutinho and drop Allen or Henderson for this game.

They have to play on Thursday, we do not, last season at home we were all over them without scoring, I am really confident in this game, if Sturridge is back even more so.

....and I've got tickets. It's gonna be great. Never seen us play a top side before. Also, I've never seen us lose.

I think even if fit Sturridge will start on the bench.
Why would you think that? He's our only out and out striker and has started every league game including both arsenal and city away when fit.

I hope we smash Spurs.

And even though it makes it difficult, I hope all their good players play but yet we still smash them.

Exactly this, Suarez will need to put pressure when tracking back to help Lucas and Gerrard, but he does that most of the time anyway, so it should be good!

I wouldn't mind a setup that swaps Henderson and Downing around; using Henderson to try and shadow Bale, and Downing to exploit gaps behind Lennon. While this is less adventurous, I think it helps to contain Bale and reduces the chance of them drawing first blood - we aren't too good at coming back from a deficit this season. We could play Coutinho instead of Downing, which would give us a bit more unpredictability and adventure in attacking, but I don't know if he'll be able to keep match Lennon for pace/strength when falling back to defend.

----------Lucas----Gerrard--------
Henderson--Suarez---Downing/Countiho
---------------Sturridge-------------

- against -

----------------Defoe-----------------
Bale--------Dempsey-----Lennon
---------Dembele---Parker---------

Playing a high line against a team that attacks with pace from deep is asking for trouble, the trick to beating Spurs should be to play a compact game and deny them space in behind to unleash Bale and Lennon. They also like to transition from defence to attack quickly like Madrid so its important not to commit too many bodies forward for set pieces or you can easily end up being left 2 on 2 at a break away

Arsenal had the right tactics but shit defence. They compressed the midfield leaving Bale very little space. He's no suarez who can twist in tight spaces. I'd play hendo with the task of man marking Bale as he has the stamina to do it. I think enrique can handle lennon as he's no slouch himself.

I agree regarding Lennon, Enrique is one of the hardest defenders in the league to "skin"

I wouldn't say spoiled.
One or two injuries and we're pretty much fucked. Say Sturridge and Suarez.

There's hardly a club that that wouldn't be the case.

It's a long time since our attackers are actually the position where we need least improvement. Although I do hope for a little more.
