Torres never asked to leave, appaz.

I knew it. The sulking, the downing tools, the stinking out the place - they were clear signs of passionate commitment to the cause, and it's a source of endless shame that he was wrenched away from the club against his will.

A pound to a penny says the Chavs, and probably his agents too, messed with Torres' head and talked him into the move when, deep down, he didn't genuinely want to go. He did decide to do so but he's never really reconciled himself to that decision, and this now is part of ongoing attempts to rationalise it away.

Fucking cunt.
Worst kind of cunt. Made his choices and blags it off with 'I was 27 I didnt have time to wait' YOU COULD HAVE FUCKING HELPED YOU FUCKING NANCY.

There is nothing I fucking hate more than players leaving and trying to still be loved by the fans.
You made your bed. Now fuck off.

Ha! Quite^^^^^ I was at Anfield for his last game. He fucking downed tools and played like a cunt. I couldn't believe it. Fuck off Torres.

It is common knowledge that the club was a mess under G&H and that FSG came in with their own ideas ("moneyball" or not). It's no surprise that FSG had taken a look at the playing staff and decided some were past their best, the article mentions Reina and Torres - can anyone really argue with that? They were both highly paid members of the playing staff and both had declines that started before FSG got hold of the club.

It's fine for Torres to say he left to win trophies, he's got the medals but how much did he really have to do with Chelsea winning them?

I think what needs to be said ... has been said.
"I never kissed the badge" - or some crap like this he mentioned when he was a Chav - but yes you did.
It's obvious - he thought the ship was sinking, and he wanted out. He had lost his will to fight in most of these games, and he wanted to move on.
Be a fucking man and say, "I wasn't up for the game plan" ... none of this chickenshit "Oh I would have stayed and the sulking was just because I had a prophecy I'd be elbowed by a Great Dane and was scared"
Great great player but fucking hell, own your own misery.

I will say it was tragedy that he never got to play with Suarez. The two of them together might well have won us the league.

He wasn't up for it anymore by that point anyway. Moving to Chelsea for trophies didn't fire him up either.

The real enigma with Torres is why he went from the type of form approaching world class, to complete and total loss of form that lasted so long. He found his mojo when he joined Liverpool, but he lost it at Liverpool too - and a while before he left to boot. That's far more interesting to me than why he left.

Yeah, I gave up with the Anfield Wrap a while ago. It was pretty good before it vanished up its own arse.

My boss came across some sporting memorabilia being stored at one of our other pubs and asked if I wanted it for my pub?

I declined...

I cared at the time, but Suarez signed straight after. Whilst arguments continue over who was better (easily Suarez imo) both tried to force a move abroad but was not one single second where I thought Suarez wasn't trying. Fuck Torres, and Agger should have elbowed him in the face a lot harder.

I sing the Torres song sometimes
And watch the advert

After him I just couldn't really love an Lfc player again, I lost love for stevie
I never trusted Suarez
I held on hope for Agger but he was forced to leave.

Although he left us and was a mercinary cunt, as soon as he failed at Chelsea and left, I started to like him again but never forgave him for leaving us. We did get £50mill though and a few good years of service from him. I've still got my signed euro 2008 Torres kit planted on my wall, him and Gerrard next to each other.

The cunt has had 5 years to think up a good excuse, blaming Gerrard for telling him to leave didn't work so now this. That Agger barge on him is one of the best memories I have of him.

Precisely. And doesn't such self-serving and post-rationalising drivel annoy you, make you squirm, insult your intelligence, and make you want to punch him hard in his face? Now imagine making the same analysis of every single thing every single person says to you over the course of every single day, and it's a wonder I haven't yet killed them all.

In hindsight we obviously sold at the right time but again its how we replaced him. Suarez was a fantastic signing but Andy Carroll.... Yikes.

^^^^^ This.

He never returned from his injuries the same player, looked like he lost that half a yard of pace. But £35m for Andy fucking Carroll, it was a risk we didn't have to take. At the time that would have bought most strikers in the world the following summer.

That wouldn't have been soon enough though. In fairness to the club, not only the fact of Torres' departure but particularly also the timing of it did leave us in a bind. We defo needed a new no.9 but had precious little time in which to fetch one in, and any club selling to us would have known that. Obv.we paid far too much for Carroll, but he's the one Kenny wanted and there wasn't much else around that it would have made sense to spend money on. A perfect sh!tstorm all round really.

But we bought Suarez with the Torres sale in mind.
