I will say it was tragedy that he never got to play with Suarez. The two of them together might well have won us the league.
He wasn't up for it anymore by that point anyway. Moving to Chelsea for trophies didn't fire him up either.I will say it was tragedy that he never got to play with Suarez. The two of them together might well have won us the league.
I sing the Torres song sometimes
And watch the advert
After him I just couldn't really love an Lfc player again, I lost love for stevie
I never trusted Suarez
I held on hope for Agger but he was forced to leave.
A pound to a penny says the Chavs, and probably his agents too, messed with Torres' head and talked him into the move when, deep down, he didn't genuinely want to go. He did decide to do so but he's never really reconciled himself to that decision, and this now is part of ongoing attempts to rationalise it away.
In hindsight we obviously sold at the right time but again its how we replaced him. Suarez was a fantastic signing but Andy Carroll.... Yikes.
But we bought Suarez with the Torres sale in mind. That wouldn't have been soon enough though. In fairness to the club, not only the fact of Torres' departure but particularly also the timing of it did leave us in a bind. We defo needed a new no.9 but had precious little time in which to fetch one in, and any club selling to us would have known that. Obv.we paid far too much for Carroll, but he's the one Kenny wanted and there wasn't much else around that it would have made sense to spend money on. A perfect sh!tstorm all round really.
