It's a fucking hypothetical but it's "the two games".

Ugh.

Re: Torres is out for the 2 games?

Kuyt and Voroin.

Yossi right Riera right Gerrard masher in the middle.

I want to know which one you'd play against Chelsea too.

Sorry.

Word of advice Andrea - It's probably worthwhile editing your title to include the hypothetical nature of your thread. Stick an "if" in there or something.

Otherwise you're gonna have all manner of people, including me, complaining that your title is misleading and sensationalist.

I thought it fit in well with the thread.

Re: Torres is out for the 2 games?

If we had to play Chelsea without Torres, I'd pick:

Reina

Magic - Carra - Skrtel - Aurelio

Mascher - Lucas

Yossi - Gerrard - Riera

Kuyt

Not ideal, as Dirk has no pace, but I don't really have any faith in Wash, despite all the euphoria over his goal v Leeds. Does anyone else?

Re: Torres is out for the 2 games?

I think Kuyt and Voroin up front, Yossi on the right, Riera on the left with Stevie and Masher in the middle is the best choice.

As we would have as little chance of scoring with two up front as one, I would go for that to give us the extra man in midfield and pray for a draw

Re: Torres is out for the 2 games?

I'd go:

Reina

Johnson   Carra   Skrtel   Aurelio

       Gerrard   Mascher

 Babel     Yossi     Riera

                Kuyt

Not in a million years would I pick Kuyt and Voronin up front in a 4-4-2.  That would be the slowest and least effective front pair imaginable.

Re: Torres is out for the 2 games?

I hate threads with titles that make you think the worst.

At last some sense.

I'd be tempted to vomit a little if I ever were to witness that odd couple leading our attack.

I surely wouldn't tamper with our formation either - play Ngog or Babel upfront - and field the usual suspects around them.

I'd rather Wash up front in if Torres was absent. At least then we'd see more composed efforts on goal rather than thunderbolts that try to kill someone in the crowd.

Gah wind your neck in some of you, plenty of posters have done this before and haven't got anything like this reaction.

thread title didn't bother me to be honest, if we can't cope losing torres for TWO GAMES we really are up shit creek.

We almost won the league with Torres missing a huge amount of matches so it shouldn't be something to fear.

If Torres is out when Aquilani is back we have to deploy Gerrard in his free attacking role behind Kuyt, with Yossi and Riera on the wings.

With Aquilani still out I think Gerrard has to play deeper to avoid a Masher/Lucas combo with Kuyt paired with N'gog.

I personally think that'd be horrible.

Gerrard would be the only one in the attacking third with a hint of pace.

Maybe Kuyt and Babel/N'Gog upfront with Yossi and Riera on either wing..

I'm undecided of whom would be a better strker for now though.

Babel or N'Gog?

It's clearly not "horrible" because worked very well for us last season.

But we didn't have Aqulani last season 😉

On the other hand, if you're talking about Alonso, then yes, it did seem to work well for the most part.

We don't have an Aqulani this year either.
